I'm in the market for a 2970n2, and have $ in hand.

First of all I tried sparky's. He hasn't picked up his phone or answered one email since monday. Thanks for that.

Dtb, highly recommended, I guess. Answered one email, and then not a followup. I hate this shit. I have money in hand guys, and you just fracked it up. Why not just answer the phone? My questions would have taken less than 45 seconds of your time and you'd be sending a radio out today.

Its likes shops don't want your business.

At Sparkys you can order online, what's the problem with that?

What psycho said; just order online. These are small businesses and they may not have time to answer the phone and chit chat all day long.

I had a few questions to ask, and I'm not going to wait a week for a few emails when a quick phone call would have sufficed. That right there is a poor business plan if you ask me.

Patience is the name of the game.
What are you going to do if you get your radios, and nobody answers you for a few minutes? Email is faster than USPS letters.

i am with you chewwy, usually before i purchase an item from someone i send them an email .
if they cant respond within 24 hours i move on .this is the computer age ,if you have an online business you need to make time to be available for it .

my thinking is ,if they are too busy to respond to my email ,then they are too busy to get my radio or other gear out to me in a timely fashion.

i am the same way ,if you want my business you need to show me that you care about me as a customer .

i have never used rolling radios but i hear he always picks up the phone and answers emails if you would like to try him .

i have bought from sparky before but at that time he did answer my emails .and just so your aware his radio tune is to cut the trace at the limiter so if thats not your thing look elsewhere.

good luck chewwy .

This kind of customer service uses up a lot of resources, time, personnel and is costly. Why do you think large companies farm it out to massive call centers in India???

I don't tolerate poor service but I do understand what it takes for the little guys to make a living and the time involved. I don't know Sparky at all but I'd bet you would rather have him working on your radio than answering the phones and sending emails. Can you imagine the questions he gets every day from the less than knowledgable radio wannabees?

Oh, and it doesn't help that whey they DO finally get around to answering your email, they only answer some of the questions you ask. Back and forth, back and forth, this email game gets old.

I don't care. My money, and I'll spend it where I want. I have zero patience for this. Some of us live in the real world where we can't sit around all week waiting for answers. And the worst part of it all? I would have ordered the radio, but he couldn't even confirm his 2970n2's were the new model. It was one of the things I asked in my first email, to this EMAIL ONLY SHOP. Hey, guess what, if you only accept emails, please answer all the customers questions.

I really wish I had the money to open up my own shop, as I know you guys would love my service.

You must not have read the item description on Sparky's website. Go to the link and your question about the 2970n2 being the new model will be answered.

The shops that I have been to in person always have a bunch of "hangers on" just sitting around, smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, and BS'ing. Makes it hard for the tech to actually do his job.

Most of the online shops are just an impressive web page. The real business end is usually just a small office/warehouse with one or two guys working there. Between filling orders, answering phone calls, answering emails, etc.. they are busier than a cat covering up ****.

I usually watch posts on the forum to see who actually purchased one of the rigs I am interested in. Then, I pm the owner to see what he thinks of the radio, and ask any questions I might have that weren't answered in their original post. It has worked pretty well for me.

As far as the 2970N2 goes, I have heard a few on the air, and they sounded great. Two guys that I had QSO's with said theirs were mildly tuned up... they don't drive the snot out of 'em. Very clean sounding rigs, and they were stable during the QSO's. One ran a Turner SSK, the other had a D104 desk mic.

I do understand your frustrations. However, Sparky has answered my calls, and so has William at Rolling Radios. Good luck with your purchase.

I have dealt with Sparky's for a few years, right to when he decided that he would no longer deal with people north of the border. I also have dealt with William from RollingRadios. William gets my work now for stuff I want. Happy with the communication with him, and shipping is good(well unless customs is slow).
Just my 2 cents.
