New Icom 7100 touch screen transceiver

It's listed as a mobile on universal radio. It sure doesn't look like its mobile friendly!

Right. I once knew a ham that mounted a full-sized Icom 746 in his vehicle. Hell, Happy_Hamer drove to Dayton with a Kenwood TS-2000 in the back seat. You can drive around with anything, but that doesn't make it a practical mobile radio.

That actually wouldn't be a half bad idea, HF + 100W 2M.

I like mine. I paid $800.00 for mine. I bought it from a dealer that had taken it back as defective. It had the low voltage drop out problem. I wrote an article on how to fix the problem and posted it here on this website. You just need to redo the power cable at the radio and be sure to feed from a heavy cable.
The attached pdf is my article is how I fixed mine.

I'll watch out for that. After the $200 rebate from ICOM, it will cost me $819 delivered. Mainly bought it to experiment with remote operation.

I had one of these before I got my 7300. Great little radio. It was really nice having all modes on all bands with just a tiny footprint on my desk, but I got the bug to build up my desk a bit and wanted to focus on HF since I never really use VHF/UHF.

It could be used in the mobile pretty easily if you have real estate on your center console to mount the head within reach.

Ordered one of these last night. Want to use it remotely.

Did you ever get the remote working on the Icom 7100?

Oh I do have mine in my Chevrolet truck. Radio is under the seat and mounted control head to lower section of dash just to the right of the steering wheel.
