Would anyone by chance have a Magnum S-380 laying around that I can get a picture of the bottom side of the board? I need a close up pic of the bottom side of board behind the channel display side of the radio just past the three shield plates.

Thank you.

Ok how about a close up shot of a Stryker 440? They used the same board. Anyone by chance have the voltage chart for IC5? It is a KS8805BD chip.

I was just about to tell you they would send the info if you called them. they are real good about that.

Yep Shawn sent me the info. Still stumped on this radio. I need a voltage chart to figure out where the power loss is. This radio has a KS8805BD PLL chip along with IC011 being LM358M chip. Never ran across on of these radios and finding info on it has been a hair puller.

The 440 is using the same KS8805BD PLL . I am in need of knowing the correct voltage for pin 16.

Mind sharing the solution for the next guy that has the problem?

I would love to share info on this site but as you see out of 107 views and only Sonoma was kind enough to make a reply. He seems to be about the only one that helps folks out anymore.

All the others that use to ask all kinds of questions back in 2008 /2009 when they first started out now don't seem to have time or flat out don't want to share info because they think they are now Pro Techs. They forgot where they came from in the beginning.

This is not the first time I have posted asking for a little help and got nothing in return but thought I would try one more time seeing this is one of those type of radio's that is way different then simple Galaxy. Really could have been a great conversation!

Crossbow I would have tried to help more but I have never even seen this radio. could not even find much on it other than what was on cbtricks which was not much. that is why I told you to contact the builder of the radio. normally they will send you the voltage chart and all that pertains to this radio. was shocked they did not send more info on it. when Sam was alive he would even help you trouble shoot the problem. I bought a magnum 3000 base when they 1st came out and had a problem with it and Sam helped with my problem since no info was even on cbtricks at the time. Sam did tell me the guts of the radio was just a S9 mobile inside the base unit. he sent me the schematic in the mail a paper version when I was having a problem with it. I quit working on radios in 2012 after my wife had some strokes in August of that year. have to be with her 24 hours a day and the shop in 25 miles away.
glad you found the problem

Sonoma, So sorry to hear about your wife. Hope things have gotten better with her and not turn to the worse. Thoughts and prayers sent your way!

Yeah this radio is a bit mind blowing on how they jumped across areas to get the needed power to operate. Even one of the wiring sockets has cut wires where say a Galaxy has all the wires in use. They just cut them and jumped the board instead. This radio also has an IC011 chip "M9RG-LM 358M" for the VCO which is not found in other radio's.

It would be nice to see this site come back to what it use to be on helping each other. This is the problem with the good old USA now days. If there is no drama or name calling / trashing other folks then it is not worth their time. What happen to the good old days where people were nice to each other and willing to take time to help instead of grabbing a picket sign and protesting to keep our country going into the pooper!

Thanks for the insight. I'll leave it at that.

Crossbow,
I think it would be unfair to cast a wide net of blame like that. I have no experience with this radio at all. I thought it was the same as my S3 as I told you offline but having no experience , I gave an opinion. I'd rather not comment if I could not help any. The 107 views could have been from those with no experience with this odd combination. I googled the board number and seen it was also in the Stryker 440 and CBTricks had good coverage on that radio. I would give this forum slack on this one. The worst is when somebody talks but has no real help to provide. I'm glad you got it fixed and the VCO can be an area that gives a lot of problems. My 2950 had a weird VCO problem of killing RX and TX until the power was cycled. Odd changes of value I would have never thought until I read a bulletin. Have faith my friend and a Corona. Lol
