North coast of the USA.... Da UP!
New transceiver by President, President Mc-Kinley with USB, LSB and AM. Price range of $299 available in late October or early November. Looks to be mostly menu driven or multi-function knobs and buttons. Front speaker, three colour display, ASC, 12/24 volt, weather channels (7), digital frequency display.... more....

Looks to be an interesting radio!

My take on it...
Front speaker - good. (y)
No echo - good. (y)
No roger beep - good. (y)
LCD digital display - ok for warmer climates, bad for cold climates.
Small - good. (y)
VOX - what?? o_O
Fine/Coarse clarifier - bad. Unnecessary. One knob is all that's needed. (n)
Menus - bad. Trying to cycle thru menus while driving? No bueno. (n)

Side notes:

For knobs, it needs:
Channel selector
Off/On/Volume (Double pot with squelch)
Mode selector
RF gain (Double pot with Mic gain)
Clarifier

Have buttons for NB, ANL, CB/PA and WX.

And pray they don't use that awful RD16HHF1 final. Don't be cheap. Put in an actual driver stage in the TX chain for the love of the Almighty.... so that normal MOSFETS can be used.

~Cheers~

Looks are deceiving is the thing here I would gather! Per what Yeti Comm LTD., posted. I am sure he has had his hands in one or has seen one with the covers off if he is saying what he is!! Thx for the heads up! Could have been a good radio is what is being said basically. Yes, No?? Sad as it doesn't look as bad as some of the other radios they have come out with. The Grant ll is a better option. Says a lot as to where things are and have been heading!! Down the tubes. Again, thx for saving some from wasting money. I am sure many will still buy it to see what it's all about. I'll keep what I have!! I am rebuilding my base station anyways and darn sure don't need anymore radios laying around!! Again, thx for the info gents!!

like exit thirteen stated would be hard to operate driving down the road , other wise could be a nice radio. having to punch buttons driving down the road is as bad as texting on a cell phone while driving. would be alright as a base since you do not have to take your eye's off the road.

I would guess the price would be suggested retail and most likely be around 235 or so. I like the front firing speaker! VOX is good for hands free especially when driving! As for the insides, I dunno??
typical Chinese design I would think....

Made in Vietnam (Uniden factory)

I'm guessing it is locked up like the 980. I wouldn't mind having one for my pickup if uppers and lowers could be added.

Im curious about power output.
I saw on Bells site Ave Tune-up 5W carrier with 28-30w peak. 23w PEP in SSB.
As long as its clean it would probably be decent.

Just picked one up for $80 brand new (well it was tested, guy won from President via FB drawing. He didn't need it and sold to me.)

I just put in truck. Front firing is good. Mode switch is on top edge). Normal channel knob and channel change on mic as well.

Will be testing out. May go with RM amp when I get funds..

As installed in my K2500 pickup with 5' Firestik II with 1.1-1.2 tune.

Large channel display.

Channel change on mic is a good thing IMO.

NB, ANL, etc is on one button, just cycle thru. I leave them all enabled in my truck.

Variable color, brightness, contrast

Front mic plug.

Seems have good 'ears', RX seems clear.

Variable power feature is not overly hard to change, but a knob would be better. Mine is doing 4w when up in AM. Can't check SSB though. Mic gain is same adjustment procedure, knob would be better.

If unit was say $135, and not $150 after a rebate.. Maybe worth it. Glad I paid just $70 though..
