I saw a video on youtube, not sure if it was lester customs or someone else, they guy was having ( not red dots ) Toshibas installed in his 2970N4, plus a few other things. Im thinking and guessing to have just the toshiba transistors put in is parts + labour = ?

Then I was looking at a Jokerman video, and he was testng some Toshiba transistors which were apparantly rated at 105 each, some were as low as 90W each, sad. He was pissed off .

A 4 pill class C comp amp with a good cooling system running at 900 watts will eventually will eventually fail if you talk on it very often. He's put those 4 transistors on a smaller heat sink without much cooling. Hopefully he didn't bias them class C for efficiency because it's a ssb rig....but if they aren't ran in class C there will be even more heat to deal with. How about those IMD levels? That is a very expensive turd.

I guess it's all about what you want. And what your willing to pay for it. That galaxy has to have some heat issues. Sure is a lot of money for a wanna be ham radio.

Definetly has heat issues... Just like the ranger rci-69ffb4, at least the ranger has toshiba pills in it , but drifts like a sailboat.. That little fan inside only does so much, the galaxy dx95t with the 2 pills also runs hot.. But if you tune them the right way and not try to squeeze every last watt out of the radio , they will run a lot cooler.. If it was me though, I would rather spend the money on a radio, like a uniden grant XL, cobra 148 GTL , lots of nice radios out there to choose from, and a separate amp. You will have a better setup for the money spent. (y) But that is just my opinion, what do I know.. :)
