Using mobile 12Vdc transceiver in 110\120v AC indoors

hard to beat a megawatt i have 3 of them. my first one failed after 2 years. i think it might have had a lighting hit. not the power supply's fault.
the cheaper ones is a gamble. unless you know its not a hash box

The Megawatt power supplies are never a gamble! The Chinese El Cheapo's are another thing.

Meanwell not MEgawatt and buy it from the USA Distributor a lot of Chinese fakes floating around and the Fakes are noisy and do not hold up.

MEGAWATT supplies are tough and reliable. I torture and abuse mine and they keep plugging along with no problems. Plus they are a site sponsor!

Have you taken the tins off of a Megawatt and Meanwell and compared them or seen a tear down on youtube? There are people that still love the old Chevy Small block but facts are facts and people loving something or owning it really means little to nothing over a teardown and comparison A-B. In fact the fact that someone owns a thing usually makes them the worst person to listen too because they often have too much bias to be objective. I wanted a video on a teardown and comparison and to see if what they were saying was true I got one each and tear them down and everything they said was true. With switching power supplies rf hash can also be an issue depending on what bands you operate on.Check out youtube for more info. Meanwell builds to a higher level of quality and better design. More to the point the cheaper brands start with the same board as the meanwell and they start deleting parts and using lower value switching transistors and to make up for that they add a lot of copper fire on the toroidal to make up for this. I got to go I took a sleeping pill and it is kicking in. Love you guys. Even if you have a Megawatt they will work just fine but not as well as they could work. No one is calling them junk just saying they are not built or designed as well. Meanwell has better logic controll and uses higher rated ic/ for pwm .

Onelasttime, don't take this wrong but written below is my personal experience. Do you have a link to the video? Here is one I found: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...B9ADEFEC6EDBA4C6BF8BB9ADEFEC6EDBA4C&FORM=VIRE
I do not comment on items I have never owned or at least worked on. Chevy engines, I love that 454 cu.in.. Work on it just a little and you have a beast under the hood.

Nope. Never had to take the covers off of the MegaWatt because they always work and John stands behind his product. I can't say a word about MeanWell because I have never owned one. Like I said in postings way back (Years) I have abused MegaWatt power supplies and have never had one fail. I was using them inside of a garage to remove rust from 10 foot long antenna towers. Temps in the garage often exceeded
97 degrees Fahrenheit and this process ran for 24 hours a day for around a week.
I still use these same power supplies on my bench for testing and doing alignments.
I don't get so curious about an item that I will rip the "tins" off just to look inside. If it fails yes then I will open it up too see if there is anything I can repair or if this is now just a donor for materials.
I think I have owned these since 2010 and other than setting up and adjusting the voltage or adding a diode isolator bridge haven't had to touch these supplies at all.
When you say the MeanWell has a better PWM chip is it a military grade type chip?
Jantx, or 883 certified?
Some of the people I have seen professing to know everything, do not. Some of the CB engineers still believe all of the magic, or old wives tales, and other myths. Coax has to be 1/4 wave lengths...

You know that since these are coming out of China there is the possibility that the unit I got was a fake Megawatt because I have seen fake Meanwells in large number's which is why I only by from the US distributor cost a bit more but you know you will not get a fake that way. Some things I will will not order from ebay or Amazon if I am worried about a fake. Now that I have 3 server power supplies though I doubt this will ever be a problem for me.

Now on two occasion I got what I suspect are fakes from Ebay but they are such high quality that only the price and the quality of the paper inserts makes me suspect fake. I recently ordered P90X for one of my Son's and the entire Harry Potter Audio Books for a son. The P90X is exact copy of the real thing I suspect it was made on the same assembly line and they just substituted slightly cheaper paper for all the printed materials. The Harry Potter Audio Books the Cover Art is also on paper that seems to be a tad too cheap and the Jewel Case for the CD's seem to be too thin and too cheap feeling. The Harry Potter shipped from the USA but I doubt it was made in the USA. LOL If I remember right BBi that guy that builds amps got a junk shipment of Meanwells from China that where not at all Meanwells.

So since my sample size was a sample of 1 and I bought it from the internet there is a strong possibility that the one I bought was a fake! If their is a high probability that a lot of fakes exist on Ebay and Amazon for both Megawatt and Meanswell any findings may be dubious at best.

My wife works for a federal law enforcement agency that deals with counterfeit money and products. There is so much counterfeit currency if someone pays you cash for an item you are selling look at it closely. If if has any Chinese writing on it refuse to take it.
Also look carefully at your cash you receive in change from any retailer. Do not step away from the counter until you are sure your money is good. If you get stuck with counterfeit money and try to pass it along elsewhere the cops will take it and you away. If you find you have some you are out the money.
Bogus products are another problem. I bought windows server program from a company in Ohio and it was a B.S. copy of a legit program. It would not load or install and it looked like a genuine windows disc. Law enforcement contacted me and I forwarded to them and got my money back from PayPal.

I know a hot honey that works for the same agency you are talking about. She looks good in a suit and when not protecting an ex-president she comes home on working vacations sniffing out counterfeit money and such. Gota love a cute blonde that is handy with the iron and can mix it up with the best of them in a fist fight! LOL

Yes, the Chinese have been devaluing the dollar via counterfeit money for a long time. You know it is bad when the banks use counterfeit marking pens on the cash you deposit. LOL

I have used them professional especially inverters since the 1990's. They were often almost as good as inverters and switchers costing 4X-10X as much in the 1990's. Back in the 1990's they where almost a secret kind of like Svetlana tubes back in the pre-internet days! LOL A lot of people though just lump them in the same category as other Chinese made switchers.

I should add that Meanwell is from Taiwan and was around while the UK held the long-term lease on Taiwan. So while it is China today things made in Taiwan are insanely better than anything made in Mainland China normally! A lot hi-end parts and electronics come out of Taiwan. http://www.meanwellusa.com.....I sure they have plants on the "Main Land" a;sp keep in mind that Hong Kong is not the same as China with regards to electronics. In fact I have friends that work in China and when they want legit electronics especially computer parts they go to Hong Kong for the day.

I didn't know you met my wife!
Actually she is the senior investigative assistant for the local office. She does not do the Presidential Protection bit. I actually trained her for firearm use and I would not pi$$ her off. She does have a right hook that will dislocate the eye balls of a water buffalo and a uppercut that will put you out of her misery.
