interference battle

So its been a year now since ive been battling interference through my antenna. Currently my setup is a Uniden 980/Galaxy 250w to a 6' skipshooter and I am getting terrible amounts of cooling fan interference through the antenna itself. Ive tried everything from chokers to better grounds and NOTHING has helped, as soon as I flip the fan switch, the static on the radio is unbearable... Of course I can turn the squelch or RF gain up but that' not preferred. Any ideas guys?

Why do you have to flip a switch to turn your radiator cooling fan on? Sounds like a good way to forget and overheat your engine. Try a 0.01 microfarad capacitor across the power leads to the fan, one lead on pos the other on neg. Install this as close to where the fan wires enter the fan housing. If that does not work get another fan. Sounds like the brushes in the motor are arcing and spewing RFI.

Switch is there before because I'm running triple electrics over factory mechanical fan, fans are all new but will try the capacitors
