Appreciate the heads up. Yeah I’ve learned to always ask for pictures. And not just pictures of the item by itself. I usually have them place a penny or something else common by it. Just so I know they didn’t just get a picture from the internet. I hate all the scams these days. I get a call...
If you want a AM,FM and SSB the 955 is the way to go. I love SSB. If I was going to buy right now I would try and find a 955v1. If I couldn’t find a v1 then I would go for the Anytone at-6666 over the 955v2. Right now the audio on the V2’s isn’t up to par with the V1’s, straight out of the box...
I’ve been back in the hobby for about 7 months or so. Last time I was in the hobby was back in 2006 and there was way more traffic then. Every trucker had a radio and actually talked on them. There are a few major highways that run through town so back then at any time of the day or night there...
To listen to myself over the air I have a very basic cheap uniden hand held I use. What I’ve done to help out with feed back is actually take off the antenna completely on the handheld. Because it’s so close it still picks me up good but without feedback. Also if you’re lucky you can look for at...
Like low modulation? I’ve heard those radios don’t have the strongest sounding audio. I’ve seen a few videos of techs upgrading them. I know there are plenty of mods for it. I’d find a reputable tech to send it to and see what they recommend. I’ve never heard of the shop you got it from so idk...
Who needs 1000 or more horsepower. Like all other men’s hobbies more is better lol. Some of the big boys on the bowl have setups capable of 50k watts or more. Some of the competitors in mobile key down run 70k plus watts. A freaking built up motor with nitrous just to run all the alternators...
Used one of my professors birds to check mine. Was well within the plus or minus 5% difference on all scales. Actually less than 3% on all scales. I made sure to use the element closest to the wattage that was being produced. Not doing that can make a good difference. Even bird meters are...
I have a workman 202S meter and the 100 watt and 1000 watt scales are off. I opened it up and see the 6 pots. I assume 3 are for forward power for each scale and the other 3 are for reflect in each scale. I want to calibrate it or at least get it as close as possible to my Daiwa CN-901hp that I...
I test my coax with an antenna analyzer and dummy load. I have a rig expert. I highly recommend anyone in the hobby invest in one. Well worth the money considering it can save your equipment. After getting mine I’ve tested a lot swr/watt meters and majority of them have been off.
Those Anytone 6666’s are great radios. That’s what I have in my mobile. I’m about 2 hours south of Houston and I make contacts in Australia on a weekly basis on 38 lsb. In my mobile with a at-6666, fatboy 4 pill with a 6 foot skip shooter on a workman triple magnet mount. Most of the time on...
Yeah everyone definitely needs to invest in an antenna analyzer. I don’t trust swr/watt meters especially when an amp is involved. And I definitely don’t trust the swr meter in radios. I have a rig expert. Love it! Worth every penny.
