    Anyone recommend a budget amp?

Regardless what the people that don't want you running an amp will tell you, an amp will make a big difference, but it's true antenna is most important. Sirio 5000, Predator Coil or Wilson 5000 are your best bet for an antenna. The Wilson 1000 is fine, but I would upgrade the coax. I wouldn't...

    Lincoln II+ Review

I love my V3, but as I discussed before I went with the Optima MK3 because the Lincoln 2 doesn't reject static that well. How is the static rejection on the Plus?

    President lincoln II +

LOL that dude does sound like Winnie the Poo on that video. Unless the mic has changed, on the V3 Lincoln 2 I have, the mic has too much bass for AM making the audio sound muffled, when I switched to the Xtream 2018 mic it make a big improvement in the audio. I use an adapter and don't have any...

FINE TUNE CB SHOP FOR REAL?

163 and Motormouth Maul sound very similar on the air. I have a hard time telling them apart sometimes. In that recording he was walking all over Motormouth Maul. So this is just his bad ass fine tuned stock radio with no amplifier with fedlity up there with Motormouth Maul? Has anyone been in...

FINE TUNE CB SHOP FOR REAL?

Are you 163? I've heard 163 out there plenty of times, great sounding station. If that is a stock mic with no processing I take back what I said, but it sound like some type of signal processor is being used.

FINE TUNE CB SHOP FOR REAL?

Aligning a radio with a tone generator, frequency counter and scope isn't rocket science. From what I can see that is all he does. He doesn't change anything out in the radios to get more power or to change the performance of the receive or transmit. He is against swing mods and any other mods...

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

Here is where the truck wash lady is, Finish Line Truck Wash in Fairview, TN, look at that big antenna! Man she annoys me. Sounds like a nice lady but.....

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

Here lately in Texas the best skip has been in the late morning, it dies out in the late afternoon and comes back after 6 pm. The skip after 6 pm has been crap. It's just a bunch of noise out in the distance, a bunch of people coming over the top of each other and a few diarrhea of the mouth big...

Skip has been awesome, those of you that put your radio in the closet are missing out!

RFT PP100 transistors vs DEI 2879s

I think I'm going to drop a matching set of HG2879s with the same gain.

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

DX was pretty good this past week, mainly on the east coast, made lots of contacts with my Optima MK3, 5 pill Dave Made and Sirio 5000, I was very happy! DX was also hot on the AM radio band this past week overnight. Picked up a radio station in Quebec!

RFT PP100 transistors vs DEI 2879s

Great thank you! The good thing is the beta gain is written on the other transistors, so if I can get two pp100s with a beta gain of 66, I should be good. I might just put Toshiba's in it and call it a day or fix it and sell it, my Dave Made 1x4 does almost as much as this did.

RFT PP100 transistors vs DEI 2879s

I finally got the pp100s installed in the 2x8. It worked great for about two weeks and now the power is going from 150 swinging to 900 to 50 swinging to 500 or so. It will work right for a little while and then cut the output in half. The box does about 1200 with 15 watts drive, but I was...

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

Truckers have always been in a class of their own. I rarely talked to them back in the day and instead stayed on other channels. There was sort of a rivalry between them and locals back then. Truckers are usually not in it for the hobby, they are on CB to get traffic info and to talk to their...

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

In regards to a few post back, other than a few racist tuckers, people including truckers conduct themselves well on the CB here in the Houston area. During DX most people are respectful and bad language is kept to a minimum as well in my experience. You can't judge a whole band by the behaviors...
