Thanks for the advise guys. I couldn't figure out how to start a new thread. I was thinking about putting up an IMAX or a 99 but I didn't know if they would work without the ground plan kit. And I think my neighbors will give me a hard time if I have to use a bigger antenna with the ground...

I think I made the mistake of buying a Tram 1499. It picks up a signal good, but it don't send more then a mile. I mounted it outside on the top of my garage, about 40' up. I used 100' of Rg8u. Got a pretty good antenna match 1.5. I have a old Pearce-Simpson Jaguar 40B. It shows 3.5 watts...

What's your favorite 'vintage' CB rig?

Thanks For the good Info. Rick330man I guess they are good radios. I put 8 of the cheap Dollar Store batteries in it and they wouldn't work. So I tried putting 10 cheap batteries in it temporally and it worked. I guess the cheap batteries don't have enough power. Thanks Again !!!!!

Hi I am a new member, and i apologize if I posted this in the wrong place. I just picked up a couple of vintage Realistic TRC-226 walkie talkies. They seem to be working fine on a 12 volt power supply. But each radio came with 2 battery packs, 4 AA batteries in one and 5 in the other. And...
