I use them a lot and was just curious about the third wire because I never use it.

Is it based upon how much ground is apply to the third wire?

I have looked through the manual but it doesn't give enough data to be able to ascertain the distance between the three radials. The reason I need that is I am using that as a base figure for a beam that I am designing and building.

Does anyone know the distance between the radials on a super scanner antenna.

Must be. That's the same number I came up with from RF parts. The schematic shows a different ic chip with more pins. But the 2003 L is the one. The one in the radio is labeled 2004 no numbers no letters before or after that.

I am trying to figure out what the part number is for IC 8 in a galaxy 959 or a galaxy 979, or a connex Saturn CX - 33. These have five pens/legs going to the board. However, all schematic show a ten pin, different device. I need to know what this is so I can order some more. Anyone have an idea?
