Bringing this back from the dead but wanted to see if anyone has tried this before I attempt it. I have a "Ham" linear with the "exciter" jack in the back to plug in something so I can key up. I was told use a foot switch with my radio. I was thinking of a two-channel switch like the Heil...
Rudes- Sorry to bring this thread back but I have this same amp. I know nothing about it other than it has the wrong meter. It does about 110 and swings to 150. Not sure if that's good for this or it can do better. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
M0GVZ, thanks for the reply. I plan on doing the bonding/grounding. Trying to figure if I should go with braided straps, or just use some wiring. Currently working on another project and have one in the mailbox (Amazon delivery) which should take me maybe an hour or two to knock out. Which...
Currently running a 2nd battery and amp into a truckbox this project is becoming a pain in the ass as I am doing it by myself so there is some trial and error. I want to see what you "pros" are running as battery(s). I am thinking of AGM battery and putting that in a Marine grade battery box...
Bought 2 different Freq meters but have not started this as I am currently working on another project. (2nd battery and amp into a truckbox) this project is becoming a pain in the ass as I am doing it by myself so there is some trial and error.
I purchased a 10 foot cable as I have to run it from the center console and up to a spot on the dash where I will punch out a hole and have the connector attached there. I will then be able to plug in the mic and remove as needed (to secure it if in a bad part of town). I will post pics once...
I have one, I also use a QD in between the base and the AT. I use a 3 magnet MFJ mount on the top of my pickup cab. SWRs are pretty good although I can maybe tweak them a little more (I had to cut about an inch off the top). Works great and I can hear skip coming in. Even spoke to Mexico...
Has anyone tried this yet? I want to do the extension. Anyone know of an LAN mobile plug? maybe something I can add to the dash and plug the mic into the dash itself. Run the extension from under the dash into my center console where I keep the other unit.
If its not too bad of a fix I will most likely do it myself. Just wondering what to do with the original wiring from the switches up front. If I can knock this out I will start working on the outside of the radio to get it up to snuff. I have a Cobra 29 with blue LED channel and meter, maybe...
Just got mine back from CbradiosPRONTO. Have to say, seriously impressed with the turnaround. I sent and received the radio back in less than a week, the frequency mod was complete and my locals like how it sounds, only issue was that they said my audio was not as loud as it used to be, but...
Yes I remembered back in the 80s I had a 148 with the switches for the xtra freqs up front where you said. I found a source for new case lids and would like to get this radio looking factory so will consider removing the side switches to the front. Doesnt look too hard, have you done it or...
Hey all, just happened upon this subject and I need some info too. I picked up a side mic 148 GTL (plus a bunch of other stuff) for $30. It has 3 switches on the right side for frequencies (total 120?) it works but is WELL used. plenty of scratches and discoloration plus a freq chart was...
