I started reading the first few pages here and then jumped to the last few! Not a tech here by no means! Throwing out there that I run a, what I call a PDL4 here, or at least will again after ice damage repair, and its great! Especially for in or around the city! The guy that designed it spent...

The old hy-gain super penetrator antenna....

Check out the newer version! Seems to be a winner! I rebuilt mine and upgraded the internal wire so as to handle greater input! As a matter of fact, we recently moved and I'm gonna get the old girl back out and stand her up for a bit! I'm excited to do so since I've gained altitude and am...

antenna project pdl-II made into a quagi please help antenna qurus!

Has anyone figured if the element wire length were smaller toward the front Yes they are 5% shorter! The separation between is kinda crucial too! I'll get ya the measurements that mine are set too!!! One thing about these is, they don't like ice, ie, freezing rain! But after using mine in...

antenna project pdl-II made into a quagi please help antenna qurus!

This is one of several that are in use today! I love it. It's directional as heck on transmit and receive! I can't recall right now what the gain is but I do remember the number is impressive. I adjusted most of the day that it went up the last time and have flat swr's. Tuned 50 ohms on channel...

    New Super Penetrator 500

The new matching wire is longer-(taller), and the long and short sides of the new wire is opposite of the original wire that came on my old P500! I took a pic, because I currently have it down, I'm running a beam now! Unfortunately the file size was too large and I'm not sure how to manage that...

    New Super Penetrator 500

Just a thought! I bought an old P.500 and it was in sad shape! I ordered replacement parts and the matching wire was different! The long and short sides were opposite, and the overall length was longer as well! Some re-drilling and modification was needed to use the newer parts. It all tuned...

    New Super Penetrator 500

I bought a p 500 a couple years ago. He had it up for several years with ends of the radials open! Each radial was packed full of some kind of insect trash.

    New Super Penetrator 500

In the past I've put a good tight layer of quality electrical tape on the joints! Used splicing tape and electrical tape on the coax connector. Make sure not to seal up the drain hole in the bottom of the vertical.

The old hy-gain super penetrator antenna....

Nice find! Use high heat for a short time. I think the 14 or 16 gauge wire was what came factory. I used 12 gauge so it would handle more heat! Take your time and clean up all the connections. Use stainless. You'll be real surprised in the performance of this antenna.
