rogerbird
I have to give rogerbird props as he has helped me on numerous issues with the hr2510 and helped me get a few "dead" radios back alive again.
Thanks rogerbird!
Awesome post! it does take a lot to make the 2510 "swing" like the video. Mod Squad does not add a transformer to achieve what you see in the 2510 test video (i checked) You ask how the radio in the above test video sounds? It sounds like mod squads radio that you are hearing when you talk to...
Here is proof that a HR2510 can "swing" like a cobra 29. Radio done by Mod Squad in Hawaii who has been modifying radios since the 70's.
The HR2510 keys at 1 1/2 watts and "swings" to 50 watts peak while sounding CLEAN and NOT choppy or DISTORTED. This mod was done WITHOUT CHANGING THE...
It is over the "spec sheet rated" output for the device. I agree, but it is what it is. Bottom line is that I have shown that (per video) that the amp can do the "362.5 watts per transistor" if pushed over its "recommended drive requirement".
I dont recommend, nor do i drive my personal amps...
Not trying to stick out my chest or impress anyone mack. Just stating that 1000 watts peak is possible from a 2x4..
Not many people i have seen on youtube will show voltage and a meter directly connected to their amps power leads and test in the way I do. There is a lot of bs out there...
Agreed. Well said. I just shake my head with the "FU" version which is (2) 2879's driving (4) 2879's. It can be done, It has been done, but that FU version box is NOT for the average joe to run... Personally, I have been asked to build these but each time I have refused to do so.
Mack,
50 ohm dummy load (too bad that vid does not show the dummy load but my other vids on the same bench do).
No tricks, bs. That was a straight up no hockus pokus what you see is what you get vid.
Also, no bs slug tampering either. (LOL slug tampering) Yes sad but true some people...
1kw is no problem from a (2) 2290 drv (4) 2879. Here is a 2x4 i built doing 625 avg and 1450 watts peak on the bird, driven by a HR2510. Volts under load was steady at 15 regulated. No BS here, check the video.
waterbug built (2) 2879 drv x(4) 2879 @ 15 volts - YouTube
It can be done...
Yes. I take notice when the red fan lead touches or is very near the transformers, the fan will slow when keying. If all else is good (torriod wrap etc), just be careful when putting your amplifier cover back on and kinda push the fan lead (red fan wire) away from the transformers. It worked for...
My relay for my 1996 Dave Made 8 pill finally gave out. I realy dont wanna bother Joe (Dave Made) for one. Does anyone have a part number for the exact match for that relay found in a Dave Made 8 pill?
Thanks in advance.....
Pump
volting final
This is how your radio will look on the bird with a properly tuned/aligned volted final NON NPC modified on a cobra 148/grant xl/grant lt chassis. This radio did 9 watts avg and about 23 watts peak. It really drives that 1x2 dave made in the video nicely.
Edit: Radio Modified by...
I dont see the 10-15pf silver mica cap (brown kidney bean looking thing) that supposed to be soldered to the input side of the so239. (coax connector on the "in" on back of the amp)
You need that to key up or else amp wont key. Its your keying circuit.
Also, as another poster stated, no output...
