It looks like your area uses 147.405 MHz as the input of an "odd-split" repeater. The output of that repeater pair is listed as 144.950. I did not go as far as to look if there was a repeater assigned to this pair by coordination, but this pair is allocated for that use in the 2 meter band plan...
Very nice Mark Sidewinder! Does it still work. I think Mark made some od the first SSB 11 meter radios if I am not mistaken. Not this particular model, but an older one from the mid 1960's.

I agree.... Keep it. They are very nice radios.... look good and sound good! A guy that I had talked to regularly years ago had one and it always sounded fantastic. Problem with ebay is one day you might get a good buck for your radio and on another day... not nearly what you would like to get...
Hi Robb, In the Cobra 19+ and 40+, it appears that they are using 1s2473 diodes, which has basically the same specs as the more common 1n4148 (which is also a direct replacement). Even though the 1s2473's and the 1n4148's are regarded as "fast swicthing" the Schottky still seems to be the better...
Cobra 19 Plus and 40 Plus
For the 19 Plus, the RF amp transistor is Q101. The detector diode is D103 and the ANL diode is D106. You could also replace the AGC diodes as well: D101 & D102.
In your 40 Plus, the RF amp transistor is Q101. The detector diode is D108 and the ANL diode is D110...
I have to go with Robb on this. I too have done this mod on several different radios and always have had noticable results. If you are absolutely sure that all the components were installed correctly, then it might be possible that something else is going on with the receiver. It is also not a...
IMO... go with the Imax or the 5/8th ground plane for starters. You have a real good radio and excellent coax so you might as well complete the basics of the station with the best antenna that you can get. Since you will need a power supply with a higher amp rating for the RFX75, I would get...
There are a number of reasons that your noise level drops in the evening and it primarily has to do with less load demand on the power lines. I will assume that you had shut off all the breakers in the house (radio on battery power) and have determined that the RFI is coming from outside the...
Next, if you can, shut off all the breakers in the home and have a listen on the AM radio. With what you have done so far, it seems like you will find something creating noise along the power lines or near a pole or transformer outside of your home. The noise that you are hearing from the radio...
Since you have the same noise levels on two different radios, there is probably something in your house or neighborhood that is kicking up quite a bit of RFI. I have had everything imaginable over the years that I had to track down and try to find a solution for. As for the Imax, you "might" see...
