    Water in coax

I have a climber guy and a couple ground guys to help. We have put this antenna and a couple of others up and stacked both towers. Have a home made gin pole that makes things easier.

    Water in coax

Thats the plan to seal it up at the feed point. It wouldn't be a bad job except for getting this beam down from 83 feet up lol.

    Water in coax

It's a Mosley A-511 their 11 meter beam. You solder the center pin to the hot side of the driven element which is insulated from the boon and solder the shield to the other side which is grounded to the boom. This antenna was built special for me on a 3 inch boom and all the large elements like...

    Water in coax

Well there is no pl259 to seal. This antenna is direct fed with center conductor to on side and the braid on the ground side. So going to try and fix it right this time.

    Water in coax

Well I knew better and thought I had it sealed. It's about 150 foot of RF213/U. You can bet it will be done right this time.

The good o'l days of USA

I grew up in the 60s and then if you got 100k miles out of your car it was worn out. Those big boats rode great and sucked the gas. The body by Fisher plate was a standard that we have lost.

CB shops not for the weak.

I have one of those I got back in the 90s that goes up to 5k. Nice meter just a little loose compared to my Bird meters.

What is that white thing you wound your coax around for the choke?

    Water in coax

I guessed it was heating it some even though I can't feel it. I have very little reflect less than 5 watts from 2kw out. Been a very good set up really hate to have to change this. Got 150 ft of 213/U on the way from DX Engineering. I have put drip loops in other type of cable installations but...

    Water in coax

Well the run is about 150 feet and removing the jacket is not an option. So far the SWR has not changed so that's not an issue. Just strange that it doesn't appear unless some power is running. Coax doesn't heat up just see the seepage around the connector. May be able to remove the beam off the...

    Water in coax

First time I have encountered this. Started DXing Saturday morning and noticed after a bit there was a little bit of water spotted under the PL259 a little bit of water dripped there. As I worked you can see some drops of water coming out of the back of the PL259. This doesn't happen unless...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Depends on the conditions. I have contacts with 20 watts on good days. Some days you have to increase your odds by 100 percent lol
