    Galaxy SSB receive questions

TM86, I dont feel bad. I just get frustrated.. I've had fun Constantly buying. lol! Ive bought stuff and traded and met some great people. I've been learning about repairing radios and I read a lot here. I see a lot of good advice and help here, vs ridicule and scorn for trying to fix a radio..

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Howdy, Yes, I can make it receive and transmit on one channel. I put a PLL chip in it, so its probably the channel switch or it could be the 8vdc. It worked for about 1/2 hour when i got it together with a good amp board and stuff, then died. It'll need some slugs in IF cans, too and a good...

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Yes, sometimes those eBay purchases burn you.. Sometimes techs burn you too.. I got in to radio a bit late and didn’t spend money on new radios.. I should have bought some galaxies new when I had the chance.. Oh well… I bought a 959B new and had to send it off because it was off frequency and...

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Thanks! In hindsight, I probably should have left the receive alone and adjusted the receive frequency.. I may see if I can hook it up to my BK 2040 this weekend and get it back closer to spec and maybe the meter will work again..

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Howdy, so I was able to tweak L22 against my QT40 to get it back close to frequency on LSB, then I tweaked L11 and L12 to get better receive.. So it’s working on sideband now, better… The meter has no movement on ssb receive, but that’s ok.. At least I can hear on lsb now.. It sounds good with a...

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Shadetree, Thanks! I think I printed a 979 service manual. I have one of those, too.. I'll double check though. I reread the thread you posted. I'll have to check the clarifier to see if it has been done that way and look to see if any of the limiters are cut. I do like the 10K switch. I...

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Good morning Shadetree, 9C1Driver, I have a few Galaxy radios, so I'm familiar with having to warm up Galaxies and the clarifier. This is a bit different. I can tune a station in and it is still not understandable. I don't know if the clarifier has been messed with. If we were talking...

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Ok, so if the ssb receive is off frequency, would that cause it to be unstable? I hooked it up to my antenna and could tune others in but their speech was sometimes understandable and sometimes not..

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Thanks Shadetree, that makes since.. I have a QT40 I could use to zero beat the receive on the 86V.. It seems to be in frequency.. That would skip a step..

    Galaxy SSB receive questions

Howdy, I have an 86V and a 2547 with similar problems. The 86V was sent to a tech for ssb transmit issues and came back with SSB receive issues. Works great on AM, but I like sideband, also, so Im not happy. The LSB receive is garbled. What can I do to fix this issue, besides sending it to...

Looking for a DIN sized CB radio with a couple of specific features

Howdy, You might look into a McKinley or an Anytone Quad 6. If you get the McKinley EU version, it is expandable, but you'd have to do your research.

Is anyone making a new base station

Yep!, I like it, also. Id like a frequency display, also. Yes I know the Ares 2/QT40 tell you the frequency by pushing the up/down buttons on the mic at the same time.. I just think a display would be better on a Base radio. Id like to see a little more power out, also, but nothing to wild...

I think he is 3D printing some of the case and making the rest.

Is anyone making a new base station

The base radio is an Anytone Ares 2. So the radio has all the features it has. The gentleman building them is in California.

Is anyone making a new base station

Has anyone seen the DX Electronics base radio on Facebook? Its basically an Ares 2 in a box with a power supply and speaker and bigger meter. Not bad looking.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/204690303413?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336136228&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1
