I have been so busy with other things in my life I unfortunately haven't had a chance to turn my rig on in months.
Any DX on the north eastern seaboard? If so where's it coming from, and what time/thimes of the day/evening?? Thanks. 73.

Sporadic at best any direction , we either already bottomed or are bottoming on solar cycle 24 that started in 2008. We should be starting the next one in 2019. Sunspots have been at 0 for nearly the past 2 weeks and are up to 25 last time I checked.

11 meters may sporadically come up in the late afternoon till early evening and will be rather short prop. around 600 miles or so. Even the Ham bands are lousy.

Keep listening and snag it when you get it.

Thanks for the information. If I can find at least an hour sometime tomorrow I might turn everything on. I had an acquaintance modify a d104 for lower (bass) response and although I've had it for over a week haven't tested it. It would also be nice to wave the hand to my many locals but actually enjoy the dxing more. I'm looking forward to the next cycle. 73

Tonight there was some great ground wave skip going here in the mid west. Talking in a mobile 60-90 miles like they were local.

Nothing out west on 10 or 11, 20 pretty quiet, 40 and 80 some but overall it is not a great time for DX right now.

Not much on the east cost. A bit of FL up to PA the other night and Puertomexicuba for a few minutes. Sol's looking a little bleak lately.

Is this an invite for all us unlicensed CBers to start freebanding 60 meters?

That is one place you do not want to be freebanding. Outside of the amateur allocation the rest of 60m is still actively used by the military. And in fact even the amateur allocation is still used by the military as we only have secondary user status. Occasionally here in the UK and the USA the military will do joint signals exercises with amateur radio ops on 60m using the amateur allocation and inviting amateur radio ops to make contacts with the military callsigns. Military cadet stations here in the UK can be found on amateur 60m allocations quite often and we're allowed to make contacts with them although conversations tend to be quite brief and just down to call, signal report and maybe discussions about the gear we're using.
