Cobra 148 gtl cosmetic mods

Blue lighting is white trash, now, huh?

I'll take it, I guess. It fits with my truck driving lifestyle. Plus, I can add it to my other Redneck credentials, such as the time that I lived in a 1978 Itasca motorhome, that I parked in Walmarts parking lot, or the time that I got tattooed in an old farm house in the country, while smoking Marbs, and drinking Jack.

I prefer the blue lighting (and use it), myself. As the night-shift half of my driving team, I find that I can focus in, most rapidly, to the blue lighting, which put my eyes back on the road more quickly. It's also the least distracting, to me. Yeah, scientific theory may state otherwise, but in practice, according to my own eyes, and their interface with my brain, the scientific theory is wrong. Others may find red to be best, while some prefer green, or amber, or whatever. Go with whatever you find practical.

The cool thing with the multi-color lighting choices, is that you have a choice of colors. Don't like blue? Hey, you're not stuck with it. Choose the green, or the purple. Whatever; it's your radio. And, if you sell it later, the guy who buys it isn't stuck with pink lights; he can toggle it over to red, if he wants.

I don't quite understand the frustration over what OTHER people choose to do with THEIR radio.

Incidentally, I also get the need to personalize and customize. I can't leave anything bone stock, myself. I tinker with stuff, and modify for reasons both practical and cosmetic. And, I am tacky in my aesthetics and cosmetics. When it comes to style, Elvis is my role model.

i happen to like blue over the amber lighting. so i guess im white trash.

Yep to each is own , I was just looking for ideas not opinions lol
Just like a car , some like them with Bing , Some don't .What's that old saying ? If you don't have anything good to say , Don't say it .

Here is what I find most amusing, the thread has the word "cosmetic" in the title..
Yet people feel the need to come in and express their opinion on why cosmetic mods...

Yup!! Lol

What I should tell the next person who paints their car with a custom metal flake, they are "not correct" because they like to stand out in a different way?...
Oh and my custom built (assembled) computer has blue LED's in every fan, and I like when things match so I got a blue meter light and ONE clear "nitro knob" for the channel select.

I'm not a fan of the clear nitro knobs , but I do like nitro rings behind the stock knobs . I think that looks pretty cool ! Ok the floor is open for questions , concerns , opinions, venting , whining etc. Lmfao !

I work nights myself. My perfect radio would have a switch on it to completely black out the lights, with few exceptions most adjustments that I make while driving are done by feel and/or ear anyway.

I think that my Stryker gets dim enough to be nearly black, but it's been a while since I've used it, and even longer since I've checked either far end of the dimmer knob.

And speaking of knobs, and in reference to my earlier declaration of tackyness, I put some chrome knobs with jeweled ends on my 980. They're probably the only aftermarket accessories that I'll be able to find for that thing, outside of the mic. They were on sale, too. Sadly, no blue jewels, so I got the green ones.

Similar to these guys:

Although, I got them from a random truck stop, not from the interwebs.

I bought a Grant XL one time with a Digi-scan. Tuened the rig on, and it had a nice green meter light that matched the LED channel display. Then it changed to blue, and purple, and red, and orange, and green again. Yuck. Changed it out for a stock incandescent. Ahhh... much better! Still have the rig, too.

But I agree, to each his own... I don’t like low riders with wild metallic paint, but don't mind that lots of people do!

I set my radios that have color options to static green in the base station and static red in the mobile. It is nice on the eyes.

I haven't changed any radio displays to other colors, unless you consider changing from incandescent bulbs to white LEDs a color change. Some white LEDs do have a blue tint to them, but I avoid those and get the "warm white" ones.
