2950dx CD

are you happy with your radio?
Yes, I bought the 2970N2 with no mods or tune because I prefer to do it myself.

I would recommend Bells because the price is comparable to others but more importantly, they had all the other accessories I needed at the time especially the 10ft extension power cable with fuses and powerpole connector for a good price with radio purchase.
Everybody else I seen either didn't have one or it was too expensive.

I can't recommend their work but based of their videos they're just another tweak and peak CB shop that will make sure your radio's "swinging ".

Thank you FSB I am a ssb guy. I don't care about the swing. I don't know how to work on radios . So I was looking for a good place to buy it from already done just not balls to the wall tuned.

Anyone ever got a radio from BellsCB?

I bought my Magnum S45 from Bells several years ago. I also had them install twin fans on the back. The fans still work and the radio only gets warm even with heavy use while the fans are on. It seems to do as advertised for power output. This radios has that big am audio a lot of us like. And, it is stable on sideband and have heard myself recorded several times and it sounds very good in my opinion as well as the many compliments I get with it. As a matter of fact i was really surprised as to how loud and clean it is on sideband when a guy a few miles from me recorded me with his ham radio.

One problem I have had with it is, I had to have the variable talk back replaced.
Every once in a while this radio likes to act up...locks up and loses its memory. But that has only been while using it in the semi truck. Lots and lots of miles of rough road beating that radio up. I have never had a problem while using it as a base with a power supply.

I think bells does good work, I wouldn't hesitate from having him setup a radio for me again. I'm sure you can get him to do just an alignment and 11 meter mod without trying to get every bit of power out if it. Just gotta ask.

I would imagine they'll tune it where you want it if you request so. It makes no sense to turn a radio past it's untended limit. This creates more heat and makes no difference on the other end. Fact is and always will be that you have to increase your power 4x to get 1 S-unit difference on the other end so turning up a radio like the 2970 another 50 watts or more will create excessive heat and shorten the life of the finals.

The 2950DX should be set for 6 watts AM deadkey and 25 watts peak for both AM and SSB. The N2 2970 should be set for 200 watts peak on both AM and SSB with the AM deadkey at 50 watts as set by the RF power knob.

These radio's should be doing that or close to it ootb, mine wasn't so it required some simple adjusting.

By the way, there is no 11 meter mod and alignment. It comes with an E-chip that plugs in behind the LCD screen. Plug it in and your done!
