I own two sonar FS 2340's.
I'm seriously consider selling one. The difference between the one I would like to sell and the one I would like to keep, is that the one I would like to sell has the audio Clipper/limiter board totally deleted (removed by a previous owner, and probably lying under thousands of tons of trash at some local dump.).
The one I'm going to keep has the board intact, but has been bypassed at my request during the restoration (Mike restored both.)
They both get terrific audio reports on air with an unamplified d104, and the Demco modulator. Does the one that has the audio Clipper board deleted make it any different from the one that has the board bypassed, (besides the fact it can't be put back to its original configuration unless one owns a board?)
If I had to guess I would say there is no difference. I am thinking that because of the very similar audio reports, and pep with both set at the same dead key. I do understand that the one with the bypassed board can be changed back to its original configuration hence most likely putting out less of a second harmonic or splatter then the one which has no audio clipper limiter board at all. I just want to be honest in my description. 73

It's good that you are honest in your details of the rig. I don't think most people will care, especially if it was restored by Mike. He has a good name and reputation out there, and if anything, that's what I would be more interested in. "Most" guys running AM don't seem to be too concerned with limiters. ;) How much are you asking, btw?

Brett

No Demco with it. I'm thinking about the price. I wanna be fare, so what I'm going to do is think of a number I would pay for it if I was on the buying end.
I'm going to offer it with an amplified d104. It's wired for the rig, and since I use the Demco I've little use for it.
I only have two unamplified d104's wired for it, and one is my backup. I'm going to take it out of the box it's stored in, clean it up (if needed) think of a price the list it here in the swap/sale section.
I already have a price in mind but don't want to obligate myself.
I haven't seen it in about 4 months, and forgot how it looks cosmetically. This pic is it about two and a half years ago when Mike restored it (on his bench) It always worked excellent after Mike restored it and I've never had a single issue with it after he brought it back to life. I should have it listed by the end of the weekend. Thanks Riverman. 73 5191-1507929679-9ee7d0b3afed3792f5f9b0c261a4bd50.jpg

Sorry. I thought Riverman asked about the price. Just woke up, and I'm foggy. 73.

Was kidding about the Demco. Don't see two of them in your photos and knew you'd keep the one you have. The amplified D104 should work great in its place! (y)
I think I saw in a recent post somewhere that you might be giving thought to selling your Madison as well. Or did I dream that? (n)

Lol. No you're not dreaming I am also considering selling the Madison. I just want to get it in proper working order. I had a local replace the final. he replaced the final but it failed to do any adjustments in order to get it to the proper output. I'm going to send it to Loosecannon, I know it sounds counterintuitive. Sending it out for a minor repair and then selling it, but I can't bring myself to sell anything with the description stating the good and the bad. If it's not all good I'll just leave it in the closet. I might just decide to keep the Madison a little longer after I get it back. It's just been erking the shit out of me since this local dropped a new aftermarket final and to the Madison and then put the cover back on it without doing any of the other necessary things in order to get it to its proper output. I used to get 4 watts DK and 20 pep (with the variable turned all the way up) after Mike restored it.
Now he gets 2 Watts DK and about 13 through 15 pep.
The frequency characters last (6th) digit is off 2 kilohertz? It really doesn't affect the way the radio works because the clarifier is unlocked. Not to mention that 25% (imo) of the people I hear on sideband are off frequency just by a Cunt hair anyway.
As soon as those two issues are resolved I'll decide on whether I'm going to sell it or not. 72
