Twist-on PL259 Connectors

They seem to be OK for cell phone type stuff,............ dunno about RF around 30 MHz.

Personally, I would drill a hole large enuf for .405 coax to go thru and then put on a "real" UHF connector

Am considering using one of these for routing into my home as it will allow a smaller hole to be drilled.
Are these type of connectors any good?

Thanks.

Until I saw the link I thought you were talking about the cheap screw-on connectors that simply screw onto RG-58 type cable and then solder or crimp the tip. I do not like those. That cable you are looking at has the FME connector and the PL-259 adapter. I have used those on HF to 100 watts (that's all I have) and on VHF and UHF as well without issues. They actually are pretty good.

Cool.
That's what I was hoping to hear.

I have never soldered on a PL259 and been pleased with the finished product. Rather put my trust in a 12-year-old in a third world country. :D

The FME connector and PL-259 adapter is excellent for use too 200 MHz and Amphenol makes one good to 2.4 Gigahertz.

I like these for my low power jumpers that I use on the test bench. I like the boot on the back because it distributes the stress away from the interior of the connection.
