Sat down to start recapping my Turner SSK and ran into a snag. The three replacement caps I bought are the right values, but too big, not enough clearance. Anyone know where I can buy the correct Temple caps? One is marked 25-250.

Is the diameter too big, or are you trying to use radial caps? In my limited experience I have found much higher rated caps that are actually smaller than vintage caps. Best thing would be to measure the old caps. Just a matter of getting something the same size.

Old caps vs new caps? New caps are smaller due to refinements in the mfg, chemicals used, and design process.

Hope you aren't trying to use new old stock caps, as that would be a waste of time - IMO. New caps are generally not only smaller, but even have higher voltage ratings too. Which is a good idea when replacing old caps.

Another good idea when replacing old caps is to get higher temperature rated caps, which are 105c rated instead of 85c rated. In this case, that feature isn't so important since it won't be subjected to heat like other kinds of circuits might be.

Buy your caps from Mouser, they have a good stock and decent prices. You shouldn't have any problem finding the proper caps that will fit.

Then post the parts list so I can do mine! And thanks for doing the leg work.

Get calipers out and measure the diameter and length and just use the filters at Mouser. Obviously, you need to make sure you know the difference between axial and radial. You do not need crazy amounts of ripple current or any other insane abilities built into the cap's. As you start chasing insane ESR, long life, hi-temp ratings the caps get huge really quickly.Oh and everything is going to be listed in metrics for dimensions.
