Is Mike delusional?

I work as an auditor.
That means I verify what you do.
Is it right or wrong?
Can you back it up?
Can you back up the backup?
What are the test conditions?
Where is the data?
I am not talking about your audio recordings. There is no way to verify those.
Nor your assemblage of videos. The ball is in your court.
This is what I do. I verify things. I examine data.

Now I also talk on the radio. And 45 mile mobile to mobile is possible and I have done it too.
So your claim is that this one person can "tune" a radio so all of a sudden it can do these 45 mile trips.
That's great. All of a sudden you have imparted superhuman or supernatural qualities on Sherman. So I ask again. Why is this man not a Nobel laureate or person of great importance?

NASA might want to have a word. They might want to know how he can develop procedures for their communications infrastructure. The manufacturers certainly would like this, too. It's worth billions potentially.

The reality is that talent in any industry is recognised.
If he had this talent and he simply decided that he would rather do CB radios then that's his prerogative. He certainly would not need you to talk him up. He would be able to point at all of the companies or public / private institutions that would want him working for them.

This is why it is almost certain to be nonsense.
We are talking about history altering events.
Do you realize that is why people approach this with skepticism?

You and Sherman offer no proof.
No third party verification.
No data.
Nothing.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan
Precisely why I offer the opportunity for anyone to Park right next to me to see if they can hear what I hear.
if anyone has any doubts and they want to see reality for themselves they know how to contact me for any verification they might be interested in. I have no reason to make stuff up and you're all welcome to shoot me a pm so we can arrange an opportunity to compare receivers while parked side by side. You can also contact the other people involved in the conversations on Facebook and it's not like their identities are a big secret. Showing off the possibilities is quite entertaining.

RPC, the answer to your question is no, Mike is not delusional.

You however, are displaying the qualities of someone who's beliefs are not rooted in reality.

You and I have gone back and forth in a few different threads, and every time i show Mark Sherman to be nothing more than a master bullshitter; you clam up and offer nothing more than anecdotal evidence.

Every time you have tried to offer up some reference material intended to back up your claim, i have shown how it either doesn't relate, or doesn't apply.
This is when the threads die out because you do not care one bit about the real physics behind Mark's claims, you only want to convey to potential customers that their business should be with him.

None of your videos prove anything, and some are borderline deceptive.

Mark cannot make a radio receive further or transmit further than other techs.
I proved this to you and you clammed up.

Mark's bench is in no way superior to any other tech's bench because he uses "tuned lengths" of coax to connect them.
I proved this to you, and you clammed up.

Changing out BJTs and mosfets for matched pairs doesn't lower the THD enough to matter in a CB radio, and I have not seen anything from you or Mark that disputes my claim.

Again, all your 'evidence' is based on what you hear, and what others tell you.
To be on the road as long as you have, and to still believe what other people on the CB radio tell you is, in my opinion, pretty darn delusional.

please, stop posting here and let the rest of us live in the real world.

Never has there been a thread where your signature line was more appropriate. ;)

It seems kind of humorous that Mike was questioning why his meter was Behaving Badly after publicly admitting he didn't follow the service manual, and then he proceeded to blame the manufacturer for how the meter was behaving after being misaligned. That sounds like someone living in a fantasy world to me.
That was the whole point of this thread to begin with so I could point out the solution to his problem so he would stop blaming the manufacturer for the issue. No idea how Mark came into the equation

RPC, again, i already answered this, and you either didn't read the post or chose to ignore it.
Mike's comments about the behavior of the meter HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DBM LEVEL USED TO SET IT!!!

You do realize that my post about LC's signature was directed AT you and not in defense of you don't you? o_O

The pursuit of common sense and logic could hardly be construed as a vendetta. I fail to see how the two numbers above equal the same thing.
I was hoping one of you could possibly enlighten me.

I tried.

Mark agrees with the factory service manual procedure.
Since you think that procedure is invalid, asking Mark why you think the service manual is wrong, and why Mike is right wouldn't get me very far. It seemed more logical to ask you how you formulated your opinion on why the service manual is wrong and Mike's magic number is right.

After a couple of people alluded to the shop that all your posts and videos point at; you made a direct comparison of Mark and Mike, and the difference in their work.

YOU are the person who brought Mark into this thread.

By setting S9 at half the recommended voltage, Mike has chosen to blame the manufacturer for how the s-meter behaves on this radio. If the adjustment was made per the service manual, the meter would behave normally. Wouldn't misadjusting the meter also screw up the RF gain and ASQ threshold?
I agree manufacturers should abide by the standard, but until they do, it seems best to follow the service manual to avoid broken s-meters.

You posted this right after i tried to explain to you how you were misinterpreting Mike's comments about the behavior of that S meter.

This post clearly shows that you are not interested in actually resolving your misunderstanding, and are only interested in furthering your own agenda.

My stuff works just fine since Mark takes the manufacturers service manual seriously unlike Mike who randomly chooses numbers that don't apply that particular piece of equipment without any regard for the service manual. Mike is the one that seems to be having problems with weak signals hitting him at 20 over scratching his head wondering why the meter is inaccurate after he misaligned the meter deliberately.
I'm just trying to help Mike figure out one of his problems he describes in his own video as he blames the manufacturer for being wrong instead of accepting responsibility for not following the service manual alignment procedure.

once again, you deliberately compare Mike to Mark Sherman.
Who brought Mark into the thread?
you did, just like you bring him everywhere else.

I own 2970N4 that Mark Sherman tuned. I have the signature lmr 240 coax that Mark Sherman handmade for a pretty penny. I did everything I was told to do and my radio does not talk 45 miles or maybe it does and the problem is that there isn't another Mark Sherman tuned radio at the other end of the 45 miles to hear me. I do know that people tell me how great the radio sounds when I am talking on it. I have gotten more than my share of compliments. I also know that I can hear people that I normally couldn't hear with my other radios and there are a lot of them that were tuned by many different techs. I like my radio and I don't regret buying it.

What I have learned that there is no magic tech. or magic tuned radios. I have learned that there are many techs who do many different things. Some good and some bad. Find a tech whose work you like and trust and stick with him. I also know this was an expensive lesson to learn.

I have no idea why you brought up information that came straight from AB7IF that we previously agreed was incorrect due to his low budget service monitor.

Because of your incessant claims about Mark's ability to lower the noise floor to the point where you can hear an ant fart on the dark side of the moon. YOU may have said you were simply repeating what you were told but I never agreed that it was due to poor equipment. Even when you state the erroneous sensitivity figures you STILL claim impossible to obtain sensitivity figures. THAT is why I said that it continues.

You beat me to the punch, kopcicle.
I was just about to say this thread would make Grace Metalious proud. Over sixty years have passed since her bestselling novel of hypocrisy and brazen behavior hit bookstores. Peyton Place would be a great title for these postings. Then it occurred to me that probably 99.9% of members here have not read her book. So I came up with another analogy. Remember Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em? The game with the two boxing plastic robots? The object was to knock out your opponent's robot before he did it to yours.
I seem to remember the losing robot's head popping up, signaling a knockout. Sad thing here is I don't think anyone is going to win; rather this thing could go on and on. o_O

Your offering wonderfully captures the thread's ambience and does so in a manner we all can appreciate.

I was convinced after reading all this my "2 cents" would not be appreciated but I relate to all of you how insignificant this battle is. From about 1969 and before I have been repairing, modifying aligning citizen band radios along with many other electronics but the most successful moments in my history on the bench was when I purposely made the "S" meter on some radios a bit more generous and got raving reviews for it! You might ask what in God were you thinking, well I soon realized it didn't matter how good I aligned the receiver on any radio in the world of CB the user was far happier when they could see the meter not only showing more output but also more sensitive receive than might actually be. It's the "OCMRS" "OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE METER READER SYNDROME" Once I figured that out I became legendary. I'm only saying always keep in mind the "Relative nature" of meters and what they display! If you have a meter that is reporting an S9 signal for one person and another person in the same town shows S9+ or more that is all that really matters to the person being told there signal is stronger, It really is all that matters... And in some cases, you simply make the meter show more without doing anything else and the user would be convinced the radio was receiving better! and yes I tested that theory.
That reminds me of the guy that this thread is about adjusting the meter to be more sensitive than it should have been to fool his customers into thinking their receiver is working better than it really is.:whistle::whistle::whistle:
