Icom IC-7300 HF Transceiver Review

Good for you, but it is hardware issue, not software :) All IC-7300 are defective, no exceptions. No mention DAC overload problem. Hard to notice on wire, but on good antenna system it is pain in the ass.

i bought one about a week ago. its still in the box. having a hard time letting go of my kenwood. i just cant seem to put it in the box. the kenwood ts2000 was my first ham radio. shack in a box. got it when i passed the test. but ill get around it i guess.

ive heard people complain they are only getting like 30-35 watts out on ssb

I have no problem getting 100 watts output on two of them.
I had one time when it was 90 watts but I was running about 16 feet of power feed cable and there was too great a voltage/current drop (It was just doing a quick connect/setup to test something and didn't feel like dismantling everything, hence long cables).

Yes, that is a common complaint, and it is accurate.
Maximum AM dead key on my 7300 is 30 watts. It will "swing" up to 75~80 wattson AM.
Full power on SSB, it will put out 135 plus watts. I normally run mine at 50%~80% power output.
Putting the radio into technician service mode allows the factory settings to be adjusted. The radio can be adjusted to output 150 plus watts, but I do not have it adjusted that high.
 
how do i get the radio into technician service mode .
and what do i have to change to get a 100 watts on ssb. right now im getting 35 watts on ssb on my pep meter.

Before you go into service mode,
Switch to CW mode.
Enable the internal mic to key the radio -
- Press Menu / Keyer
- Long press Edit/Set, then CW-Key Set
- MIC Up/Down Keyer = ON
- Key Type = Straight
Exit the Menu, use the Down button on the mic to send a tone (RF Power = 100%) into a dummy load
What does the meter show (and what meter are you using) ?
 
meter shows 35 watts on ssb on my mfj peak reading meter.
