IRLP and the VX-8R (Exiting DTMF)

Thank you both for the reply. Mole, I'm doing exactly what you said, but I'm not getting any confirmation tone. I'm still very green at this, but I thought after the node number gets entered, I am supposed to get a confirmation by the IRLP. Can you give me an example frequency and node I...

IRLP and the VX-8R (Exiting DTMF)

On a different forum (that I don't belong to) someone asked how to access IRLP using the VX-8R. Below is the response that was given. I tried this and it didn't appear to work. My question is: A. does this sound correct? and B. how do you exit DTMF? I can't find the # key; with or without...

    VX-8R Standard Battery curve

Tim, How long did you let the first charge go for? I had the same issue at first, and then a friend told me that his battery out of the box was deader than a door nail, and that I should let mine charge for at least 5 hours. At first I only let it charge for 2 hours because it said fully...

    "Key-up" Tone

Moleculo, Thanks for the advice, but I cannot send a tone, I think it would in fact make the telecommunicator (dispatcher) crazy (if that is what is the result of following the instructions on page 45.) So unfortunately, that won't work. Additionally, the radio is stationary in a holster so...

    "Key-up" Tone

I recently purchased a Yaesu VX-8R to use as a backup radio for my job. On the job, we regularly use Motorola HT1000's that when keyed, provide a 1 second "beep" tone on the portable. The purpose of the tone, as I understand it, is to allow enough lapse time for the portable to engage the...

Yaesu VX-8R Volume using the external speaker mike

I will have to check around to compare with my friends mikes. Thanks for the advice. I did notice however after reading the manual and playing with the volume specifically, that among other things, 25 is not the max volume; 32 is. So i turned it up and it seems a little better. The real test...

Yaesu VX-8R Volume using the external speaker mike

Has anyone noticed that the volume on the Yaesu VX-8R is too low when using the external speaker mike? Has anyone found an adjustment to make it louder? I have the radio set to the highest volume (25), and it just doesn't seem loud enough even with the mike attached to my collar. I have a...

    Yaesu VX-8R Microprocessor Reset

Thanks for the quick reply. The mod was done for me (I paid for it), so I don't know which kind of mod was done, or by whom. All I know that is that it was for the 440 - 470 Mhz range. I'll give it a try today and let you know. Thanks.

    Yaesu VX-8R Microprocessor Reset

I just bought a Yaesu VX-8R and had a xmit mod done. While playing with the unit, I got so lost in the functions, I wound up doing a Microprocessor reset. After I did it, I wondered if doing so "un-did" the mod. Would anyone know if doing the reset would un-do the mod? Please advise...
