I just picked up this AR711 for free. It wont tx or rx. The tx light come on but no carrier or modulation. There is a very low static sound but no volume control. Any Ideas, it would be fun to get it working again.
alot lot of amps wont like that high of a carriers. And I have two or three cobra 25's and 29's hanging around here already. I like the midland because its compact and I dont have the room in the tacoma for a 29. I was just thinking if I could get the midland to deadkey 2 watts my amp would be...
I'm wanting to run a small amp with my 75-822 but can't figure out how to tune it down a bit. Dose anyone know how to install a swing kit or just retune it down a little?
I mounted my 1/2 wave in a burch. I bolted it to a 2x4 then used ratchet straps to mount it to the tree. Its been up for about 2 years now with lots of strong winds and no problems
I had the same question a few days ago. But it was answered for me when i started hearing skip. I was supprised to find out I could talk to them and all I have is a small amp and a home brew 1/4wgp up in a tree about 25 feet.
You can talk skip without an amp but with all the big power stations...
It might be were your radio is hooked up. Try to change were the ground is mounted.
Ive had problems with alternator's sending noise into my stereo, mabye your alternator is the prob.
if you have a metal roof the mag mount might work.
you can also get a peice of steel sheeting and mount four lengths of copper wire(102" each) at 40 degrees
