That is nice looking install and the 3 element yagi should work really well.
I like m2 antennas. I have their 5 ele on 6 meters and also 2m and 222 antennas from them.
I agree with Mudfoot's point that its all about using your money to build the best possible station. A pretty matching speaker for top dollar doesn't make sense if you have other more important pieces or part that will make more of an impact.
However if you are totally happy and content with...
Part of what makes the matching external speakers disappointing is that your expectations naturally are as high as their price tag.
If you are patient you can find some really good prices on older external speakers at hamfests. I now have several really nice older speakers that have the...
Its fun to see the old magazines that used to be so common. Over the last few years I've collected PDF files for the different hobby magazines.
Back in the day, it was a blast to read through Monitoring Times, S9, Popular Communications and look at the ads and pictures for gear that I couldn't...
I didn't catch the earlier / original thread. But it's great to see that a number of us caught the radio in the ad.
Like others have noted normally you see some sort of receiver or scanner used as a 'transmitter'.
So did anyone else notice the President Madison with matching speaker on the network promo for Young Sheldon?
I guess it could also be the AM base version called the Dwight D but the fuzzy text under the channel knob appears to be Madison and not Dwight D.
The mike something like a Turner Plus 3?
I believe that the entry level Japanese amateur license is restricted to 10 watts.
There have been other radios releases that in the Japanese market are only 10 watts but in other markets they are higher power.
Are you looking for a radio that will be used mobile or moved around?
If the radio is just going to sit on your desk and not being moved around then the size (form factor) isn't an issue and the FTDX3000 would be a serious contender.
If the radio will be moved around then the IC7300 has some...
Alan I agree with your comment about working to relate by asking them questions about their area of interest.
In addition to the previously cited "cliques" that are in ham radio (and most other hobbies). I think that a lot of hams hesitate because of prior experience with new or potential...
Of the options mentioned the military surplus sections are probably the most practical considering price and availability.
All of my yagi's are mounted horizontal so haven't had a project like your dual polarity 2 meter antenna.
I agree that the mast seems kind of tall considering rotor, antenna and coax weight and wind-load.
I do like your idea for the non conductive handle to go between the rotor and the antenna That should help avoid issues with the vertical elements.

If you took any pictures of the flea market post them up.
It would be fun to see what was available and the size of the event.
Kind of similar was Ten Tec used to hold a parking lot ham fest event every year. I had acquaintances that lived nearby and said that they normally saw nice...
