Ugh, that's awful! My wife had to get over the fact that I do not wear my wedding ring. Too many injuries are possible for a guy who welds, picks up heavy stuff, works with electricity, etc...
I heard him here in MD too, but 38 was too busy for my little mobile to make it. Ironically, I was trying him as I was pulling in to my local Home Depot parking lot! lol
Very nicely done. Only thing I didn't like was listening to 306 in NM. I built a beam to shut him out when Europe is coming in to the east coast. His singing gets old real fast for me.
He emailed me right back when I inquired about one a while back. The shipping to the States was going to be a killer though. I built one and it has been great.
It's been a long time since I had a K40, but I remember it being really easy to remove the clip for the trunk mount. I just drilled a hole to mount the antenna and reused the hardware that held the clip in place.
Don't know anything about the warranty questions though.
There is also a great app. called 3D sun. It's got information from NASA's heliophysics lab. I have the iPad version, but I think they have a droid version too.
Hopefully the picture will post... Drew it out quickly on my youngest's homework, lol. Since rotation is reversed with the connections of red and black to yellow and terminal 2, I think this is how I would wire up a DPDT switch. Not sure you have room for it in that box, you may need to mount...
If you can use a 1/4 wave whip, it is the best choice. If you are looking for shortened antennas, BM has some suggestions. But the 102" whip will provide the best performance if it is usable in your application. Make sure you use a good quality spring with it, stainless steel, not chrome plated.
Oh, OK. One more, then. Here is a link that was recommended to Oatmeal for making his own cheapy connectors. I have no idea how he actually did it though. Maybe this one has enough pictures to keep Marconi from needing his hip boots.
There have been many questions on the reflectors as to what...
I would like to see it too! This is about all I know about it, except that it does in fact work for him. It has been a couple years, but he and I have spoken on the radio before. Hopefully he can chime in and get some more pictures up.
