    Trashing the band

As much as I hate dirty stations on the superbowl, at least they are trying to talk. Better than what we've been dealing with on 38 LSB for the last couple of years, with well known idiots on SSB intentionally trying to prevent people from talking. If the FCC isn't going to investigate people...

Product Comparison: Amazon 30 amp switching supply vs. MFJ-4275MV

I'm still on my original Megawatt (2 years now I think or more) and it's worked flawlessly. Can run any 2 pill amp, radios, etc. No voltage drop, no hash, it's amazing to me to have something so small after years of big, heavy power supplies taking up all my desk space.

    president lincoln 2 v3

Now that they got most of the bugs worked out I'm enjoying version 3. I've made lots of contacts with the radio and the layout and finish is more refined than many of the other similar exports.

    X Force incredible screw up

I liked the old Magnaforce Amps and never had any issues but the last two amps I tried from Xforce had nothing but problems. I no longer recommend them, hopefully they can get things sorted out for the future.

    Pending Reviews and site update

I've had a couple of people email me to ask why I hadn't posted reviews yet of the Anytone AT-6666, Maxlog M8800 or M8900. Two things - # 1 I've had a very busy summer with a number of work and home related things happening so my time to write has been very limited. # 2 With all of the issues...

    Magnum 357HP???

I had no idea this was coming back. I'm guessing the amp will be one of their RFX-175 boards paired with the most recent 257.

    maxlog M8900

In more careful examination yesterday I found that the radio was exhibiting a small carrier on SSB that become more pronounced (5w) as I adjusted the band pass TX adjustment. Then heard a station in Florida and started talking and 3 mins in all of a sudden I began getting terrible...

    Check out the new magnum!!!

From what I've heard the Magnum version will be different than the Maxlog and not a rebranded radio. Not sure what changes or differences there will be but last I heard it sounds like there were definitely some tweaks and re-engineering going on. I'm hoping to learn more soon as I think they are...

    maxlog M8900

So I'm about ready to post a review of this radio on my site but thought I'd chime in here quickly to give an update. This little radio is cool, not only because it's small but because they were able to add additional features that we haven't seen on other similar radios. The displays are easy...

    maxlog M8900

I posted a couple of videos but my first thoughts on the radios are - - holy crap it's small - receive sensitivity is good - power output seems good for a small radio - audio is full sounding but definitely not as punchy as the Anytone AT-6666 which still is the best of the bunch with...

    ANYTONE 6666

I've been running the AT-6666 in the mobile for over a month. It is noiser than the CRE 8900, Lincoln II, or Maxlog M8800 v8 but I find managable as long as I'm not trying to hear a super quiet dx station. My main issue is still with the overall volume. It has a scale to 36 and I have to run...

    And The Winner Is??

I think the Optima is the best in terms of overall ability for serious users (to be fair I haven't tested the latest version but if it's better than the previous version it's definitely a great radio), the Lincoln II offers more for the mixed user and it's finish feels the most refined out of...

    maxlog M-8800

Out of the Anytone AT-6666, Maxlog M-8800 v.8, and President Lincoln II v.3 I'm starting to think the Maxlog receiver is the nicest on the ears. All three are very close in sensitivity and I don't know if it's just the larger speaker but the Maxlog seems to be the most pleasant for listening...

    Anytone 6666

In terms of size it's small but the controls are similar to a 2 meter mobile so very user friendly. Honestly the controls are easier to use on this radio than many full size radios. If they can boost the volume and it doesn't have any issues long term I think it would be a fun radio to own...

    Anytone 6666

Been testing the AT-6666 for about a week now. Here's a video of on-air transmit audio - Anytone AT 6666 Transmit On Air Test - YouTube Radio is pretty easy to operate, has fairly good audio for a stock radio, puts out around 60 watts, and has good receive sensitivity. Only problems are -...

    KL 203P install, first timer

You can drive the Kl203 with 3 watts carrier but they run better with less carrier and more swing. The problem with the Uniden 980's is they have very little swing. At 3 watts they might swing 7 watts. But if you drop the carrier on a 980 down to 1 watt it will only swing 3-4 watts. On SSB...

    PRESIDENT Lincoln II

I've been reading a thread on the Transmission UK forum regarding V3 and it's interesting to see how many people there who had the V1 fixed or turned into a V2 are now happy with the radio. The V3 I believe incorporates those fixes and more so I'm thinking it should be pretty good. I know after...
