thank you everyone. for no more that the antenna costs' I might as well just get the Wilson trucker model. I've got plenty of different mounts I can use.
im basically looking at the same Wilson unit. but as we all know in the radio world' the better the antenna the better everything works.
so since I have a large supply of good cb antennas' obviously a quality 3 foot antenna would work better than a 3 inch antenna. now I realize I...
i'm looking to install a mobile cell phone signal booster in my vehicle. many areas I travel in are very weak in signal strength. making my phone almost useless. my question.... since i'm looking at the WILSON signal booster and it uses a small magnet mount antenna' would it be possible...
like grinder 74 i've been running the cheap radio shack base loaded 64" whip for awhile now. and with a bare foot radio i'm happy with it. and it hears extremly well. I think for under 25 dollars it one of those best kept secrets in antennas.
ok guys i solved my mystery. looking from the front to the back the transistor on the left side turns out to be a 2166 the one on the right is a 1969. it's so old that i had to remove it and get a bright LED light and a big magnafieing glass and just the right angle to be able to read it...
thankyou very much for the reply. but this radio has no hi/mid/ low switch and does not have a heat sink on the back. the back is no different than a normal cb radio. but it has 2 sc1969's sitting side by side in the back of the unit. shocked the snot out of me. and even after thinking...
when i first joined this forum i asked a question about my uniden grant. we determined it was the third generation grant because it looks like the president grant. now i bought this radio new back in the late 80's maybe 90 i don't remember. to my knowledge i have never had this radio worked...
shockwave without knowing it your reply kinda walked right into the reason for my post. I was talking with a freind of mine who works with lots of stainlees steel about the 102" ss whip antenna. so the thought came up about cuttting the standard 3/8x24 end off an antenna' welding it to a...
i'm curious does the physical size' width or thickness of things like the stinger make a difference?? as an example' take two center load mobil antennas. while the stingers above the load may be the same length' one stinger is considerably thicker than the other. does this make a difference...
ok i'm with you now. your meaning went right over my head. besides everyone is entitled to one mistake a day. that was mine. lol. yea i realized that when the meter went over 3 on the SWR on 40. my first thought was here i go back and forth around this truck a quarter of an inch at a...
thanks DB. yea they are long. right at 13'6" . but i'm going for the justo. since the bottom load sits above the top of cab this is a plus. now i might be wrong but i'm thinking performance wise this set-up should work about as good as it's going to get running dual antennas.
today i finally got those 64" long rs antennas mounted on my rig. the things are so tall they make it look like a giant bug. lol anyway as installed the SWR came out 1.5 on channel 1 about 1.5 on channel 19 and over 3 on channel 40. now being a trucker my radio lives on channel 19 99,9%...
today i heard a guy calling for someone wanting to know if he could hear his 2 x 12 davemade now i know davemade is an amp. sounded like he was talking skip or was just way off. just thought i would ask since davemade makes some different stuff.
well let me say I don't know. but i did just read an article online talking about this exact issue. and according to the person writeing the article' he says yes because of they way they are made' they are 5/8ths wave antennas. sorry i can't give a link' but there is an article out there.
robb. nope this radio is in the s/rf position. I don't know what has been done to this radio or who did it or when' but to hear it... it's loud and proud. I have just never seen a radio swing to max on the meter at a dead key. it's deffinetly not set to run an amp.
