what is the advantage of direct sampling,
over low IF w/DSP, or, zero-IF I+Q, w/DSP.
Zero IF seems like a great way to do things...
..(except for image rejection).
Is it any better than a IC-7410?

Ok, lets try again...
not for a panadapter --->
as a replacement IF system, audio output, etc,
..with reason being, use the new capabilities of
DSP/SDR radio...eg, Perseus, SDRPlay, those kind of things...
and keep the other stuff from 'traditional transceiver' ( the PA and freq readout)
which I...
has anyone thought about adding
a new SDR for use as the IF,
TS930

I have been away from the mic and key
for a long time.
what bothers me is that a Flex3000
cost 1 grand more that the 1500,
and all more you get is a 100W PA.
Elecraft K3S, the 100 watt PA is 700bucks? Yuc

is there an issue beyond...
..
applied DC plus instantaneous RF(at the plate), shall not exceed xxKV...
or not.
please discuss.

Captain KW.
how can a tube have a pulse-rating for plate voltage
that is significantly different than for DC?
a tube, or anything else...
....arcs,......... or it don't
something does not add up.
or there is more to the story.
please discuss.

OK.
a thread about Russian tubes was getting too long.

what is a pulse rated tube?
My understanding is.. a pulse tube has
10X or so as much cathode current emission as a 'normal' tube.
--> useable as a normal tube as long
as you heed normal (CW) limits
on the...
suppose you are trying to use a commercial band 150/170Mhz
gizmo on 2M.
my experience is.
it might peak(or notch) sort of...
but you are not transferring energy efficiently,
most of the energy is lost as VSWR reflection.
using a HT as as a signal generator,
makes things even tougher
PL tones have a long history in 2-way
commercial FM. Once upon a time,
there could be a Fm channel for dispatch,
with several unrelated base stations,
hundreds of cars each, in a close together area,
so dozens of different PL tones were needed.
Tx and RX PL tones were not necessarily the...
what are we talking about here?
ISS transmits on 145.800mhz
ISS wants to receive on 144.490
or not, is that where 1.31 comes from?
who corrects for doppler, the person receiving?
is there any company that takes noise-blankers seriously?
just my opinion.
downstream of the first mixer.
there should be two or three rx paths dedicated to
(with slightly higher bandwidth, say 10khz)
NB, that could 'turn off' the main channel, before
the main channel gets saturated...
UHF conns are perfectly good for 2 meters and down.
my understanding is that a UHF-conn acts like 1 centimeter of
40 ohm coax.. does anyone know for sure?
900 mhz was never my thing....
is there commercial repeater stuff at that freq?
how was the split of 25mhz chosen?
do you have to make your own filter cavities?
are there any 'duplexers for mobile' available
at hamfests
a long time ago, there was a NEW commercial
band at 800mhz...
