New IC 7000. How to tune with the MFJ 941E?

Well, then how come the almighty Icom didn't solve that in like 10 seconds? Never mind the false information that the mic can't be used as a keyer! Final update and end of story.... Fred the guy in the know at Icom just called me. He said the way to do it with the 7000 is to set the mode to...

New IC 7000. How to tune with the MFJ 941E?

Problem solved... .not thanks to ICOM! A guy a MFJ said to just try keying the mike in all modes. CW did not work properly but FM did! No need to talk into it or do anything. Took me 10 seconds to get the antenna tuned. Why was this so difficult or the 'pros' at the manufacturer?

New IC 7000. How to tune with the MFJ 941E?

UPDATE Just got off the phone with Icom customer support. The guy that I spoke to actually told me that they only support Icom brand antenna tuners (... saying you can damage the radio with other tuners!) and could not come up with an intelligent way to use other brands! When I used a trick...

New IC 7000. How to tune with the MFJ 941E?

On my FT-450D there is a setting to have a button send a continuous tone at 10W. Great for adjusting the antenna tuner. Can't seem to find this on the 7000 but that would be strange because it's a great radio. What to do? Peter K1PMA

Properly comparing and evaluating antenna question.

Just got a MFJ 269 analyzer and started measuring everything in sight, like coax db loss, swr, etc. I don't understand the following: you measure an antenna's resonance at various frequencies. on a ST4 discone I found that it resonates good at 146.00mhz with 1.1 swr for example. But that does...

Is the Alpha Sky antenna worth the money?

    HT radio choice....ICOM ID 31A or Kenwood TH-F6A ?

Thanks for all the input so far. I am in the Raleigh, NC area which has a boatload of regular 440mhz repeaters. In all NC has 5 D-Star 440 repeaters (2 in my area). Hope thats enough because I am now heavily leaning towards the ICOM 31A. The newer 2 bander 51A is not released yet and will...

    HT radio choice....ICOM ID 31A or Kenwood TH-F6A ?

Just got a FT-450D for HF work. I like it a lot. But for more local communications I want to get a decent HT radio. What I have heard about D-Star sound really interesting and fun. At the same time the TH-F6A offers a lot more bands, incl. HF. Price is about the same at under $300. Which route...

Newbee needs help... torn between Yeasu 897D and FT 450D

Will be taking my technician test in about 2 weeks. Right now I have a Baofang 5R which I only use on the GRMS frequencies. What I would like (if doable is another thing ) is to get a radio that covers as many bands as possible as I plan to take the General license within a couple months. I am...
