Also try pulling out each one of the tubes and cleaning each pin and clean the tube sockets. This is very common for a radio of this age.Do that first and if that doesn't solve the problem you then need to find a schematic and trace the audio chain.Hope this helps..DAVE

Also I forgot to mention the backwards swing. That always most more times then not is a transmitter misalignment. It's just like an AMP and must be tuned right.If it is out of line this is what you will see.Again the service manual will tell you each step in alingment for the TX.

The first rig sounds to me like it just needs a rec alignment. You will have more then one tuning coil for the rec not just one. On an AM rig it wil be at leats 3 or 4 plus 2 more for you signal to noise ratio. See if you can find a service manual for it and go to the alingnment of the rec. It...

BEST VINTAGE RIG The stoner pro 40 hands down. You'll know when you pull the hood on one of these things. I have never seen such high end work in my 35 years in radio.They were all built by hand one at a time and man does it show.Love my stoner. They will burry it with me for sure:thumbup:
