What are some typical frequencies that you guys keep stored in your memory banks?
I have things such as the call frequencies for 10 meters and other bands. I have most of the SSTV and PSK frequencies for the different bands and certain frequencies for nets that I might check into....
Can you guys hear this? I tried the other day but had no luck. I'm in central Alabama and it was around 4:00 in the afternoon. I didn't know if it was harder to hear during those times or not... Any time of day that it's easier to pick up?
I have a Yaesu 897 that I run as a base station and it works really well. My only dislikes is that the 897 only has one HF antenna port and one VHF antenna port. So, because of that, I have to use an antenna switch for HF to switch between my Antron and the G5RV. It's not that big of a deal...
I found a site the other day that basically listed all frequencies that are known to be used by different government entities. FEMA, Air force, Canadian government etc... I'm still pretty new to HF as I have only had my General for a couple of months now. But, I thought it would be cool to...
I have a weird problem...
I use a yaesu 897 and ham radio deluxe software to run digital modes.
I am using a dell latitude d620 laptop computer....
Everything works great except every so often a digital voice speaks on my computer and automatically keys up my radio for about 2 to 3...
Can someone tell me some good nets to check into on HF? Or where I can find an accurate list of nets online? I'm looking for nets on 10, 20, 40 and 80.
I've found some by "accident" and checked in (maritime net, some other net based up north etc...) we also have an 80 meter AL net here daily...
I received an email this morning from N7UIC (who I have never talked to before) and the email simply stated "Really SSTV on the ARRL Bulliten!?!?"
First off, I would like to point out that "bulliten" is actually misspelt and I'm still not sure what the point of the email is as he has typed...
The wife will be gone next weekend and I thought about setting up the radio out on the patio (with a grill and beverages of course...)
Is there any contests next Saturday? Or, is it ok to just start one yourself?
The only area of experience I have is with PSK31. What other digital modes are pretty simple to set up and use? I use Ham Radio Deluxe with my Yaesu 897 and I know with the HRD program, it has options to use all kinds of different modes. Is it something as simple as choosing a different...
I have my Antron up for 10 and 11 meters. The antenna is sitting in the base of a direct tv satellite pole. I want to put my 2 meter antenna up and it would be convenient of I could somehow run the 2 meter on the same base as the Antron is on. Any suggestions? This is what I am working with...
I run a Yaesu-897D. I use an Antron 99 and a G5RV. There is only one port on back for HF and one port for VHF. I have an antenna switch that I use between my Yaesu and my 11 meter radio. I have to unhook one antenna to run the other depending what band I am on...
11, 12, 10 etc... I use the...
I have a Yaesu 897.
Yesterday, I turned my desk lamp off before turning off my radio. When I reached with my finger to hold the power button down to power the radio down, I accidentally held down the function "f" key.
I then held the power button down to turn the radio off. I didn't...
I have recently downloaded Ham Radio Deluxe onto my laptop and ordered the appropriate cords to connect my radio to this program. The program works great with my Yaesu 897 and I have already made some good dx contacts using the bpsk31 mode.
However, whenever I shut my laptop down and then...
