A 9 foot length of wire works for a counterpoise.

I sent one out for recap and alignment and the glue on the circuit board ate up the legs on a lot of the components so it would have been cost prohibitive to fix. Just check for that.

I have one of these and used a plastic fiber powder bottle around the coil. Just cut the top and bottom off and slide it on the coil. It is a tight fit and will not hum.

Nothing has been clipped in this radio. I only adjusted vr4 for modulation. The meter has worked since new until last Thursday.

When I key up to talk there is no movement. There is full movement when I use swr calibrate and swr check. I have a wattmeter and vom and another radio. The Cobra is modulating and sounds normal. Key up wattage is 4 watts.

I have a 2016 model Cobra 29 ltd classic. When I modulate, the rf meter doesn't move. I switched mics and that isn't the problem. The meter works on receive and swr cal. The only thing I have adjusted is modulation. The radio works great except for the meter on xmit. Has anyone experienced this...

They are made by Uniden. The rkcb is very similar to a pc78ltx. There are probably no schematics available.

If the antennas are the same length there will be little to no difference in performance.

You could have the dds vfo installed and get rid of the switches.

I know you don't want blue lights while driving. They will really mess up your night vision.
