Some satellites work with fm and our good old space station..I did get a chance to talk to them using nothing more then a tape measure yagi and a ft 60r ht. Depends on the satellite your trying to hit to which mode or communication you use..several free tracking programs for said satellites...

Used to have a yaesu ft 897d along with ldg tuner maid for said radio on a g5rv antenna .it worked flawlessly on 160-6 .The tuner they make is automatically controlled by the radio you just sit back let it do its thing and enjoy the qso. .doesn't get much better then that. Hope that helps 73.

To put it real simply it is a Tone squelch..The listening radio will not unsquelch if it doesn't get a certain tone. Just like repeaters "well most" if your transmit signal doesn't have the right tone with it ..The repeater won't repeat it.. Say you have someone miles off and a week signal that...

Ok so now it transmit on 220..what are you doing for harmonic suppression? You wouldn't be transmitting without any kind of 220 filtering would you ? There aren't any built in and at its designed frequency it just meets fcc regulations. .I can't see them going through the Hassel of suppressing...

The gt3 does have a couple hardware updates..it's not just a 5 with a different case..and it doesn't overload in crowed places like the 5 and supposed to have a better amplifier in it .but I own both and the receiver is better imho

Sorry forget to mention for this test your load must match your coax so it's loss isn't also calculated ..75 ohm coax and dummy loads are easy to get.

A very simple ...easy way to test this is simply a power meter before and after the tuner.make sure these two power meters read the same .. Look at input and output power from said tuner. While I do like and use mfj their products are not the best and won't reflect other better built tuners...
