Sears Roadtalker 40 Base Station Clarifier mod

I'm looking at Sam's CB-274. Hopefully they used the same wire colors the day they built your radio. But, if this thing is accurate, the yellow wire gets its power from IC501, which is only active during receive. The white wire is what feeds the voltage to the varactor D702 to change your...

    WTB: CPI CP2000

I'm so used to the light colors on the CPI's that seeing it in black is kind of jarring. I can understand why someone might do it, and it does look better than something that has a bunch of scratches all over it. Reminds me of an all black Madison someone was selling a few years ago. In any...

Well, that's one way to prove there's a market.

    WTB: CPI CP2000

Just say this on fleaBay and thought of this thread. Not too sure about the stealth paint job but the seller says he has more coming. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276433123149?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336136228&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

    11 meter is very quiet?

The evening drive wasn't much better than the morning. Talked to 1719 in NY state, 559 in PA, and 2020 in Scottsdale. That last one was local, but I don't get to the Valley much. I did hear a 336 talking about his ladderline to his folded dipole, but I couldn't get back to him to confirm if...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Had to drive to the Valley of the Sunstroke this morning. Had two contacts, one in North Carolina and the other in Virginia. Lots of Florida in there, but it seemed to be mostly locals not interested in DX. We'll see what the band holds when I head home this evening.

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

Radio wants 50 ohms. Feedline is 450 ohms, or 9 times the impedance.

    Drugs.

Do yourself a favor. Find out what the laws are concerning civil asset forfeiture in your state and how you can protect yourself from it. Drugs have a bad way of ruining more than just the user's life.

Cobra 142gtl no audio on AM transmit but yes on SSB transmit

If you've got an oscilloscope or have a buddy who does you can use a cellphone app to create a tone that you feed into the microphone, then key the radio and use the scope to find where the audio signal disappears. Someone here recommended "f Generator", it works. Helps to have a schematic...

    Mobile Radio Mount - anti-vibration?

We've seen a guy that set up a water cooling system for his rig, shocks would be kind of tame in comparison.

    Mobile Radio Mount - anti-vibration?

If we really want it we'll have to build our own out of RC car suspension parts.

    Upcoming solar eclipse.

We had just enough cloud cover to hide the sun. But at least I could go out without sunglasses at the peak when we had about 64% occlusion.

    Shure 577C wiring help please

According to that diagram that particular mic is designed for relay switching. Some electronically switched radios require the RX line to be connected to ground during receive. I was going to say all, but I'm sure there's exceptions. Since the switch contacts in this mic aren't connected at...
