for this circumstance it's 100% true. especially when 90% of the people out here don't even know how to use the mfj analyzer. But they have one just cuz it looks good on the shelf and they are proud they spent the money on it.
putting a band aid on something doesn't resolve an issue. the irritation is still there you just cant see it. you could, find the cure to the problem. in which you will not have the problem again.

not entirely true but could be. wouldn't hurt to try. the real question is what does the 1/2 wave length increment do for your station? weather between your equipment or in multiples of out to your...
you might want to rethink that. Reflected watts affect the source of the signal. the end result is the heat generated at the source component in which they will eventually fail do to being operated out of spec.
read my post on this thread. also read my post on the youtube videos you posted Marconi.

the other problem your having with forward swr swing with forward power on modulation is. Your RMS watts on a dead key is different than your RMS watts with modulation.
try this,
with the amp off raise the dead key of your radio and check your SWR.
now check the SWR when you modulate.
you...
what is happening is, your coax is resonating with your antenna. your length of coax is wrong! In other words your coax is adding an impedance to your antenna and then you are trying to compensate for the impedance by adjusting the rings on the antenna. which makes your antenna and your coax 50...
Read all you can about
propagation, Yagi's, 1/4 wave, 1/2 wave and .64 wave antennas. They all play a factor.
Summary. You can be running 10,000 watts but with out mother nature you probably won't reach the end of your state!
had to edit..
Also you need to fully understand what "50 OHM...
Hello Nomad.
Still having issues with the bias of the Tube. When the bias is turned up the relay latches, tube gets hot and the Parasitic burns up.
The Amp has the original Low Voltage board. I have been studying your new Low Voltage board schematic that you have posted on eBay. I have adapted...
Lil video I took when things went bad, really bad.
Enjoy,
Keep in mind its a repair and not a total rebuild from the bottom up.
I'm not in the business of cleaning cigarette tar out of an amp.
Update FYI.
Just as you spec'd out Nomad.
Bias VR went out.
Bias VR was of a wrong value (2.5k)
2 2.2k 2 watt resistors were never installed on the Bias VR.
1 diode of the Bias diode string went out.
Resistors 48 and 49 blew open like a fuse ( didn't burn )
2 50 ohm resistors were used for...
Nomad,
Funny how you have described what I am getting on my bench this afternoon. Although, I already have the tube out of the Pride that has gone CRITICAL!
Symptoms are as follows,
Soon after the box is turned on, Instantaneous over heating of the Tube to the point of "Chernobyl". (Pictures...
