President Lincoln II AM dead key and swing

It's a great radio. With the RF Power all the way down, I dead key right around 2 watts. With the RF Power all the way up, I dead key around 11-12 watts. I'm currently running it with a TNT 350 that has been tuned by Crusher and when using the Amp, I set my dead to 3 watts using a MFJ-822...

    Uniden 980SSB Review

You might want to rotate the mic gain knob back and forth, and see if that fixes your modulation issues. The President Lincoln II's have this same issue, but it happens randomly.

    New Sirio Performer 5000 Fighter

222DBFL, I did notice that H&Y sells replacement whips for the 5000. I'm just not sure if it is the 3.5mm or the 4mm. They haven't replied to my email (sent like last month). The screen capture I posted above comparing the two versions is from a UK website. On the other hand at $29.95 plus...

    New Sirio Performer 5000 Fighter

I'm curious about this method, can you elaborate? So I did some searching and I think I found the specification differences between the old and new Sirio 5000 whips.

    New Sirio Performer 5000 Fighter

yeah both of my Sirio 5000's have the thick whip. I've heard about the newer ones having thinner whips. I bought both of mine from H&Y.

I could swear my Wilson 1000 whip is thinner than my Sirio?

    New Sirio Performer 5000 Fighter

Ah I see, it doesn't seem an extra 6" would make any difference performance wise then.

    New Sirio Performer 5000 Fighter

Interesting, I'm not a fan of camouflage, but wonder how the extra 6" length on the whip affects things. I had to cut about 2" off my Sirio 5000PL in order to tune it to 1:1.

President Lincoln II v.3 Mic Gain Issue Common?

BigKahuna... When I first encountered this issue, I also thought it had something to do with running the mic gain on max. I have since been running it backed off to around 95% and the problem resurfaced at random.

President Lincoln II v.3 Mic Gain Issue Common?

I knew this had to be a common problem. Thanks for posting gents. I have also gotten into the habit of rotating the mic gain when I turn the radio on. I was kind of hoping someone might have identified what the issue actually was since it seems to be affecting a lot/most/all? of these...

President Lincoln II v.3 Mic Gain Issue Common?

Hey all, I have a Lincoln II v.3 and it's been a great radio. I have been having an intermittent issue with the mic gain. Sometimes when I turn the radio on, and PTT there is no modulation (in other words the radio acts like the mic gain is turned all the way down). I can correct the problem...
