Looking for a small amp to hook up on the 11m base.

Thanks! I'm going to go with the TS 350.

Looking for an amp for the 11m base

A new TNT 350HD on the xforce website runs $280. Would that be worth it over the $175 for the Texas Star 350hdv?

Looking for a small amp to hook up on the 11m base.

If I had a guy willing to sell me a "mint" Texas Star 350 HDV for $175, is that a good deal? Or should I still go for the TNT T250?

Looking for an amp for the 11m base

What kind of deadkey are you putting into the T250? And, what kind of numbers are you getting out of it?

Looking for an amp for the 11m base

I originally posted this I think in the wrong place under the ham section. My bad. So I'm looking for a small amp to hook up on my 11m base, around the 100-200 watt area. I'll be driving it with a stock (unmolested) Uniden 980SSB, and I'd like to have the ability to do SSB, although I'll be...

Looking for a small amp to hook up on the 11m base.

So I'm looking for a small amp to hook up on my 11m base, around the 100-200 watt area. I'll be driving it with a stock (unmolested) Uniden 980SSB, and I'd like to have the ability to do SSB, although I'll be using it for AM as well. Unless I'm bad off, I've narrowed down to the following...

What do you think of my homebrew 11m vertical dipole?

Yes, that is one thing I still need to figure out. Eventually I plan on running a conduit through the garage wall about 6-8' to the right of that door on the right. That will eventually be where the feed lines come into the garage. But right now, I'm not sure how to keep the feedline up and...

What do you think of my homebrew 11m vertical dipole?

So I've still got to take it all back down, glue it all together, paint it, and then bracket it to the roof as well. However, it's up, and it works. SWR is about 1.1 on ch1 and 1.25 on ch40. There's a 5' steel fence post drove into the ground about 1-1/2' that's the anchor point, where the...

A Dipole for your CB Base Station?

Any idea how this vertical dipole plan might actually work? http://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-CB-base-station-antenna/ I'm considering trying to build one of these this weekend for the CB base station. Does anyone have any opinions? I'm assuming if I only go 20 feet tall, that should...

Anyone ever used a retractable flagpole to get a vertical antenna in the air?

Please enlighten me. What do you mean?

Anyone ever used a retractable flagpole to get a vertical antenna in the air?

So I was thinking bury the first section. Then add the second section on top. Then get on the roof and add the third section (with antenna attached) to that. I wasn't thinking of putting it all together and THEN erecting it. As for power, the nearest power lines are approximately 60-80 feet...

Anyone ever used a retractable flagpole to get a vertical antenna in the air?

Alright all. Tell me if this will work. I take a 1.315-in x 126-in Gray 17-Gauge Galvanized Steel Chain-Link Fence Top Rail (from Lowe's) and bury it a foot or two into the ground. This is 10.5' in length, minus what is buried into the ground, so say to the top is 8.5' off the ground. I add...

Anyone ever used a retractable flagpole to get a vertical antenna in the air?

So I'm contemplating setting up a base station in my garage. CB for now, but I'd like to get my Ham ticket soon. But 11m is all I'm worried about right now. I have some locals about 10-15 miles away I would like to be able to reach. But the only experience I have is with installing mobiles. I...

Why does my Bearcat 980s built in SWR meter only work if I have an external meter hooked up?

I've talked t folks the next county over. I even talked skip on this setup parked up on a high hill. However at highway speeds yesterday I noticed I could only really hear or talk to truckers within about a mile or two.

Why does my Bearcat 980s built in SWR meter only work if I have an external meter hooked up?

But...should my radio's SWR meter not be able to test my SWR without having an external meter hooked up? If the external meter isn't hooked up, the radio will always just read 1.0 on all channels. I know my 4.5' antenna isn't tuned PERFECT across the entire band.

Why does my Bearcat 980s built in SWR meter only work if I have an external meter hooked up?

Why is it that if I just have my antenna connected directly to my radio, my radios SWR meter will always read 1.0 on all channels? Yet if I hook my external meter up to the radio, then the radios built in meter reads pretty similar readings to what my external meter reads (1.05 on ch 1 and 1.5...
