So after installing schottky diodes in a cobra 29 ltd chrome, I get a loud buzzing noise from receiver and the meter shows a couple S points with the nb/anl on. With nb/anl off it sounds normal. I only get the noise with the chromes. I have installed in cobra 29 ltd classic, 25 ltd classic and...
So I have a 2016 cobra 29 ltd classic and when I turn the radio on it shows 4 watts without keying the mic and the tx/rx light stays green. I key the mic and the tx/rx light turns red and I have good modulation. I release the mic, the light goes back green and I still have 4 watts on the meter...
Well it's always something it seems like. I got a brand new 959b and everything worked, but didn't swing as much as other 959s. Anyway now I have no modulation, I still have a good carrier but no swing. Sideband is weak also. Turning the AMC inside radio does nothing, mic gain is up, tried a new...
Yes yes I am a dumbass and didn't have an element in the bird 43p watt meter and keyed the mic. what happened was d8 in a cobra 29 smoked out. I ended up replacing d8 d24, 1000 uf cap and still blew fuses. so I replaced stock final and all is good. so obviously no element in bird 43p watt meter...
Anybody know how many watts a 8640 signal generator can handle? Say you are connected to the rf power output and accidentally key your mic. I wonder how much abuse they can take. And no I dont have option 003. Thanks.
Does anyone know if after doing the swing mod in a cobra 29 ltd that it changes your transmit frequency? I am under the impression that it does but it doesn't seem like the swing kit is in the transmit frequency stage. Anybody have any words of enlightenment?
So I adjust the transmit frequency dead nuts on 27.18500 and when I check it later the fluke frequency counter reads 27.18485? I let the radio warm up and I hook up rf sampler to frequency counter. How much off frequency can you be and still be OK on am? Thanks
So I have a fluke 1910 frequency counter. I think it's a 1910..... anyway the way I have been checking frequency it to connect one alligator clip to ground and the other to the pin on the so-239 connector. So my question is how many watts can a fluke frequency counter handle? Like a scope you...
So I got this vintage VU meter that was from an estate sale. I popped it open and it looked like somebody did some work to it. I'm curious to ya'll thoughts and opinions.VU meter with the front 1/4 jack are hard to find and I'm curious to a good way to test one. I'm thinking of hooking up a 8...
Anyone know the exact location of pin 6 on IC2? I'm pretty sure cobra used different ic chips and I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right schematics. I'm working on a newer cobra 29 ltd switch. Thanks!
So I got a new power supply a couple months ago and I am getting a reading of 25 volts DC on my multimeter when I touch the black probe to ground terminal on the power supply and the red probe to the front bnc connector on scope. I get 25 volts DC on scope, frequency counter and cover screw on...
Anybody know what the 6 pins on a cobra 29 ltd ch.9 switch do? I know 2 are ground, 2 are hot and the yellow activates ch.9. I'm just wondering if there is like an input and output with the 6 pins. Like power comes in top 2 pins and out bottomed 2 pins. Basically what are the 6 pins for? Thanks
