Alright guys, was thinking the other day. Always talk about grounding to binding etc for good antenna performance. Has anyone ever used lightning protection so239 couplers, and bolted/ welded the to car/ truck frame, body, etc. Dawned on me this might be an idea. Don't figure the would be a lot...

    President John Q

Does anyone have any input on the president John Q model? Just picked one up for free, initial test shows it turns on, tx/rx light operates, but no LEDs on in display. Good radio? Approximate age? Were the president's made by uniden? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys. 73

Replaced it with a 3a diode. Since i was there, figured i'd try the mod for modulation. Removed the jumper jp6, installed...

Well gentlemen, alzheimers starts early. I thought I had gotten rid of my 148gtl, but I guess I was smarter than I thought. In any event- I have, as the title, a 148gtl that I used when I was OTR in the 80s. started in 81. Can't remember if I bought the radio just before or after I started- but...

    listen twice; talk once

My old k40 finally bit the big one- so I'm thinking Wilson 1000, 5000, or sirio 5000. One thing I liked about the k40 was the 1/4 turn feature- made it real easy to reach up and undo when pulling in the garage. My guess is that the others won't be quite as easy. I do a 1:15 min commute twice a...
