As far as I know the cb band 148f was made for Cobra by Ranger.
I've sold a couple 360's to guys who put a 148 dx faceplate on them. Same radio, built in the same factory.
I have 3 Grant's, one has a 10khz mod the other 2 are stock, all 3 recently tuned and aligned by Kelly Poots in Las Vegas. One has the rf mic gain a teeny bit bent, but still functional. $200 shipped each, $175 for the one with the bent know.
Pretty much stock (no mods I'm aware of apart from the resistor diode for the mic) Malaysia made 148, shows some wear but not terrible. Meter works, has white LED, no segments out. K40 speech processor mic. $175 shipped priority mail.
Tx is good, signal appears to be good, the audio out of the speaker is low. Rf gain all the way up, volume all the way up, it's just not very loud. All modes, tried different speakers, both in the mobile and in the house. Any ideas?
As soon as you push the scan button it instantly goes to 26.000 and stays there, can't change frequency with the buttons or channel knob, it won't scan up or down, you have to push the manual button to go back to normal operation.
My scan on my 2950 doesn't work, radio just goes to 26.xxx and stays there until you push the manual button, anybody seen this, maybe have an idea what to check?
I'm going to have to send it off then, I just don't have the equipment to get that far into it. If I did have the equipment I would be that much farther down the road before I realize I have no idea what I'm doing.
Just got this radio, and everybody said I was off frequency on lsb, with my primitive equipment it looks like on channel 40 (for example) AM and USB tune easily, but lsb is 27.4032 with L28 screwed all the way in. Any ideas what to look for?
Alot of people find the 2 tone beep on a Sadelta echo mic very annoying. Friend of mine has a vr9000 with a bump bump, it's pretty cool to play with, but it was installed on the squelch knob for some reason.
I've always had a thing for oddball stuff, and you don't see these all that often. Had bunches of galaxy radios so have an idea what it will and won't do. Somewhere I got the idea most of the Superstar radios were sold overseas, but I know there were probably dozens of variations and rebadged...
