Hi there, I'm working on an Ares 2 at the moment, the normal mod with the AM regulator only works well with a dead key over 4 watts so far. I'll update as I make progress. ;-)

If your familiar with the Diode/resistor mod I do on these types of boards, replace the resistor with a 1k variable resistor and you can quite nicely control the top end.

I believe the only reason people would tell you to swap out the mosfets for different ones are because they were running it with the 20 watt dead key out of the box. Foolish of anytone and striker to have out-of-the-box dead keys that high. I recommend no more than a 7 watt dead key on maximum...
