Just for the record, I have done some illegal things, I'm not justifying it. Even so, I have never used my radio equipment, base or mobile, to antagonize. If I don' like what I'm hearing, I move on!........peace.....

Cool story! I too, have won a lot of local keys by taking advantage of other stations weaknesses. It doesn' take as much as you would think, if it's set up properly. Had a diesel F250 pickup, radio was a mosfet Cobra 29 with a clean tune, into 4x2879's. Killed a lot of alternaters, till I bought...

Works fine on the headache rack if you have done your bonding properly. I have done this with good results, beats a mirror mount on a big truck! I agree that it's not as good as hard roof mount. However our 2 trucks set up this way, perform very well.

I ran a 108" metal whip mounted on the tool box for years with good results. Just make sure your bonding is done properly, and it will work fine. If it's a box with wings, you can mount on the top. I have had top single lid boxes that swing up, so you have to mount center rear. May have to space...

Back in the 90's had one that lasted several years, even with my homemade coil antenna. I can't remember to save my life what name it was. Haven't seen any that style in the last 10 years that's worth a crap though. They all seem to break out within a couple months.

First night it was up we had an unexpected storm......60-75mph gusts. I was almost sick. Noticed a slight kink in the morning, just above the last U-bolt on the mast. Luckily the pipe mast flexed enough, I think it saved the whole antenna from catastrophe. So far it has been through several...
