Hi all,
I'm looking for opinions on the new PC78XLT with SMD. I'm not looking to do any mods, just make sure alignment is up to snuff. I'm wondering if you can still peak the transmit stages and set the modulation on these new boards?
Thx
Can anyone tell me which wire to disconnect to disable the amp board on my 2979n2? I seem to recall seeing a tech unplug a brown wire, but I cant remember. I just want to tweak my modulation settings, but my 20A power supply wont hold it.
For stocking the heatsink cover for my 2970N2. I boogered up the little clips that snap it in place. Almost impossible to find. But now Barkett is starting to stock more of this stuff for Galaxy and RCI radios. Just waiting for my new power cord to come in and I will be able to get it back on...
Just wondering here,
When you align one of these radios, why does the manual say to limit SSB PEP to 200 watts with the ALC setting, but the radio will swing higher than that on AM?
I see Ranger has a new website. Looks like (so far) no 2970n2 or 2970n4. Just the 2950cd. Anyone have any poop on this? Also, whats special about the 2950cd?
Just got my radio room painted and new carpet today. Now I can order the new corner cubicle desk that I want. I was moving stuff around and snapped a pic of the family.
I just found a functional, complete front panel with all parts and controls supposedly ready to install to fix my UPS smashed receiver. HOPEFULLY seller will accept my offer..
This is my mid 90's Motorola Spectra converted to 2m. This is the 110w trunk mount with the system 9000 control head. I use it as a base station with a Diamond X50 antenna. These radios are built like tanks and can't be beat, especially in a metro area. They are dirt cheap on eBay. Only problem...
Sat down to start recapping my Turner SSK and ran into a snag. The three replacement caps I bought are the right values, but too big, not enough clearance. Anyone know where I can buy the correct Temple caps? One is marked 25-250.
I was in a cb shop last week and was talking to the tech about my 959b. He said when he aligns that radio, they set the 10.240 reference circuit, which I know about. He also mentioned a 455khz adjustment. This is not mentioned in the service manual. Anyone know what he was talking about?
I just scored a nice Turner Super Sidekick today. It hasn't arrived yet. Does anyone know if the 4000B amp IC is mounted in a socket or soldered directly to the circuit board?
I am trying to decide which would be better for me. Either a nice used 50mhz to 100mhz analog scope or an inexpensive USB PC Digital scope. I found one package that has a scope, spectrum analyzer and a few other features new on eBay from China. Any opinions?
Just scored a nice Old Heathkit IM-18 vtvm today. After I recap and calibrate it, I will use it for mostly receiver alignment. Now all I need is a better scope.
Im messing around with a new cobra 29 and Im trying to just do a transmit alignment from the service manual. To get 4 watts deadkey, I have to take the core of VR14 out to the very last thread, basically too far to leave in. Does this have to come all the way out? Also, are there any bias...
