I'm settling with a 30 ft push up pole, easier to manage, and just use a mast standoff attached to trailer and the top guys.

I would like to side mount a 20G Rohn tower to the side of my trailer. I was planning on using treated lumber and lag bolt it to the trailer and using wall mounts designed for mast pipe and just bolt two legs of the Rohn tower to the mast pipe mounts. I'm planning on free standing or guying...

The odd part of the starduster was how the coax fed in there, inside the mounting pipe. What happens if the end goes bad? Well you then would have to disassemble the whole damn thing to fix the coax PL 259 end!!! If I where given a starduster, I would cut it up and make a few scanner...

No... it looks like an IMPROVED star duster! The coax connection alone is far superior to the starduster's. Either will bend when debris hits it, and stay bent. I say replace the stinger with a 102" stainless mobile whip. It won't look AS cool, but it will be more robust.

I never quite understood this, why is it like this? Most of the time truckers get radios with extree channels so they and another can jibber jabber while they drive down the interstate. FM would work GREAT for this.

Or a K-40 trucker.
