Was wonder if one of those laptop cooling trays would be alright for cooling radio. They have trays which aee angle adjustable with in-built fans. Would they additional RF noise? I noticed some have LEDs for bling factor and concerned about it.anyone use one?

Well finally rustled something up. Butchered a rollodex stand and used two 12v dc fans. Its more function than form lol

I've actually been contemplating removing the internal speaker, in my radio, and putting a fan in its place.

It's not that a Uniden 980 is high powered, and a massive heat generator (it's not, lol), but it does sit on my dashboard. In the winter, when I run the heat, that dash can get hot. I've actually reheated cold coffee by putting in the cupholder that slides out from the dash.

I don't use that speaker, anyway. And, those speaker holes would allow airflow. I suppose that I would just need to find a shielded fan, so it wouldn't interfere with my signal.

I've been wanting a cooling fan on my amp, for the same reason.

Exactly, the fl heat is a killer indeed. Especially if you're dash mounted.
