Whats the best power mic for the 3900?

Power mike or noise canceling mike. If your audio has been worked in the radio, you might want to consider the noise canceling mike.

Got an SS3900 I'm using as a base.What would you recomend over the stock mic?

You used to go by Undertaker if I'm not mistaken on the old EEI forum. Good to see you after 3+ years and I'll follow your advice!

Go with the Astatic 636L Noise Canceling Mic, or the Telex-Turner RK-56 if you have a Deep voice.
No need to Waste your coin on a power mic, if radio is tuned right, antenna system is right, then all you need to do is clean up back ground noise. And , a power mic, IMHO, is not for that.
